Overview

The VEVOR S3018 Prover CNC Engraving Machine is a versatile tool designed for precision engraving and milling, controlled by GRBL-based software. This machine is suitable for various applications, from hobbyist projects to more intricate professional tasks.

Function Description:

The S3018 Prover operates as a GRBL-based CNC machine, supporting G-code file processing and visual display. It allows users to engrave and mill materials with high accuracy. The machine can be controlled via console commands, on-form buttons, or a numpad, offering flexible operation. It monitors the CNC machine's state, enabling users to load, edit, save, and send G-code files, as well as visualize the G-code paths.

The machine's core function is to translate digital designs into physical engravings or cuts. It utilizes a three-axis coordinate system (X, Y, Z) for precise tool movement. The spindle motor, with a power range of 0-500W, drives various milling cutters to perform the desired operations. Optional components like a laser kit expand its capabilities to include laser engraving.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Control Board: VIGOTEC control board.
  • Power Supply: 24V, 5A.
  • Stepper Motors: Controlled by 4-pin wires (X/Z axis: 480mm length, Y1 axis: 150mm length).
  • Spindle Motor: 2-pin wire, 480mm length, 0-500W power.
  • Limit Switches: X-limit, Y-limit (2PCS), Z-limit (2PCS) for precise homing and boundary detection.
  • Emergency Stop Switch: Included for safety.
  • Connectivity: USB cable for computer connection.
  • Offline Controller (Optional): 1.8 inches with SD card, allowing standalone operation without a computer.
  • Laser Kit (Optional): Includes laser kit, 3P laser wire, and protective glass.
  • Guard Plate (Optional): Two guard plates with M5*10 screws and M5-10 ship nuts for enhanced safety.
  • Fixture Assembly: Consists of pressing plates (50203), M640 and M645 screws, M6 butterfly nuts, and M6*2mm washers.
  • Working Area: The Y-axis component is 50mm wide.
  • Cable Lengths:
    • Z1/Z2-Limit wire: 2.0-2.54, 600mm length.
    • X/Y2-Limit wire: 2.54-3P, 600mm length.
    • Y1-Limit wire: 2.54-3P, 300mm length.

Usage Features:

  • Software Control: Primarily uses Candle software, an open-source GUI for GRBL-based CNC machines. It provides a visualizer for G-code and allows for comprehensive control.
  • States Monitoring: The software displays work coordinates (current X, Y, Z local coordinates) and machine coordinates (absolute machine coordinates). It also shows the CNC status, such as Idle, Running, Home, Check, Hold, or Alarm.
  • Control Functions:
    • Home Button: Initiates the homing cycle ($H command).
    • Z-probe: Starts the zero Z-axis search procedure (e.g., G91G21; G38.2Z-30F100; G0Z1; G38.2Z-1F10).
    • Zero X/Y: Resets X and Y coordinates in the local system, retaining a local system offset (G92).
    • Restore X/Y/Z: Restores local system coordinates with G92.
    • Safe Z: Moves the tool to a safe Z-position, configurable in machine coordinates.
    • Reset: Resets the CNC with CTRL+X.
    • Unlock: Unlocks the CNC with $X.
  • Driver Installation: Requires CH340-Driver.exe installation for first-time use, though Win10 systems may auto-install.
  • Port and Connection Setup: Users must select the correct COM port and set the baud rate (typically 115200) in the Candle software settings.
  • File Processing: Supports various G-code file formats (NC, NCC, TAP, TXT, Gcode, GCO, NL, CUT, CNC). Users can load, edit, and send files for engraving.
  • Fixture and Tool Installation: The product kit includes four sets of fixtures for securing materials. The ER11 collet on the spindle motor must be properly clamped, and cutters should not extend too far.
  • Working Coordinate Origin: Before engraving, users must define the engraving figure's position relative to the overall engraving plate. The X, Y, and Z axes can be reset to zero after positioning the tool near the material surface (e.g., one sheet of paper distance for engraving).
  • Offline Controller: Allows operation without a computer. It features a main page for basic control, a control page for manual axis movement, a file page for selecting engraving files from an SD card, a confirmation page for starting engraving, and a settings page for adjusting baud rate and feed rates.
  • WiFi Network (Offline Controller): The offline controller can establish a WiFi hotspot (VIGO-STK****) or connect to a local WiFi network (2.4G signal only). This enables file management (upload/delete) via a web browser (192.168.0.1 or vigostick.local).

Maintenance Features:

  • Restore Factory Settings: If the machine experiences issues like stuck engraving movements or non-moving stepper motors, users can restore factory settings. This can be done via VigoWorks software (downloadable from www.VevorEngraver.com) by clicking "Restore Factory" in the settings, or by sending the command "$RST=*" through Candle software, followed by a machine reboot.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Avoid direct laser radiation to eyes or skin.
    • Keep away from children.
    • Always wear protective glasses when using the laser.
    • Do not use in flammable objects or gases.
    • Immediately cut off power in case of emergency.
    • Shutdown steps: first cut off power, then pull out the USB cable.
    • Ensure the machine is supervised during operation.
    • If equipped with an offline controller, do not connect both the controller and a computer to the engraving machine simultaneously.
    • If the U disk is unreadable, scan the QR code for software and content downloads.
