5.1. How do I measure visual acuity?
1. Call an optotype
➢ Press the button of the group with which the optotype is associated (1, 2 or 3) until the
optotype you need appears.
2. Change the acuity
Decrease the acuity (larger letters)
➢ Press the up arrow.
Increase the acuity (smaller letters)
➢ Press the down arrow.
3. Change the optotypes distribution
➢ Press the Change button.
Note: the redistribution is valid on optotypes regardless of the presentation (3 lines of acuities,
identical or different), the mask, the contrast and the background (white, black or red/green).
4. Change the contrast
Increase the contrast
➢ Press the right arrow.
Decrease the contrast
➢ Press the left arrow.
Note: change of contrast does not work on the red/green background.
5. Change the optotype masks
Display a column of optotypes
➢ Press the vertical mask button.
Display a line of optotypes
➢ Press the horizontal mask button.
Display a single optotype
➢ Press the single letter mask button
