Do not let batteries lie around openly. There
is the risk of batteries being swallowed by
children.
Leaking or damaged batteries might cause
acid burns when getting into contact with
skin. Never try to charge or short-circuit bat-
teries. Do not throw batteries into fire.
Remove the batteries from the instrument if
it will not be used for a long time.
Instruction for environmental protection
The law (Exhausted-batteries regulation) obliges you, as
the final user, to return all of the exhausted batteries and
accumulators (from button cells to lead accumulators); it
is prohibited to dispose of them via the domestic waste.
You may return your exhausted batteries/accumulators
free of charge to both our branch facilities or our central
office at Hirschau as well as to municipal collection points
(waste material yards) of your community, our branch
shops or any place where batteries/accumulators are
sold. By doing so, you comply with the legal provisions
and make your contribution to environmental protection.
How to measure temperatures
The plunge feeler may be unhooked from the casing for
measurements. The cable length of the plunge feeler is
20
abt. 90 cm; the cable which is not needed may be hou-
sed in the cable compartment (11). When closing the
cable compartment lid take care not to squeeze the
cable because the cable cannot be exchanged.
To ensure that values measured are optimum the
plunge feeler should be in the medium to be measu-
red for at least ten minutes prior to the start of tem-
perature measurement.
ON/OFF key (3)
Press the blue ON/OFF key (3) to switch on the hand-
operated thermometer. After it is switched on the tem-
perature of the medium in which the plunge feeler just
is will be displayed in the LCD (2). To switch off the
hand-operated thermometer, press the blue ON/OFF
key (3) anew. The hand-operated thermometer will
be switched off automatically after abt. one hour to
save battery energy.
H/T key (5) (Hold/Temperature)
Press this key to "freeze" the temperature shown in the
LCD (2); this is useful when the LCD cannot be read
during the temperature measurement. You may also
read the temperature after the measurement is made.
When the HOLD function is activated "HOLD" will flash
