Drive Unit Bellows
Exhaust bellows, checks
WARNING!
Secure the
drive unit in a raised position in such a way
that it cannot fall when working on the drive bellows. A
falling drive may cause serious injury.
Check the condition of the exhaust bellows annually.
They must be replaced if there are signs of cracks or
other defects. The stern drive can be prevented from
falling by use of special tool 885800.
1 Trim the drive out to maximum and install the spe-
cial tool.
2 Inspect the bellows for damage. Replace bellows
as necessary.
U-joint bellows
The U-joint bellows must be inspected annually. The
bellows must be replaced if there are signs of cracks
or other defects. In order to replace the U-joint bellows
it is necessary to remove the stern drive from its sup-
port bracket. Removing the stern drive requires exper-
tise and special tools. Contact your Volvo Penta work-
shop.
