TheemissionwarrantyforthedieselparticulatelterandSCRSystemscoversdefectsin
workmanshiponly.Normalmaintenance,suchascleaningashfromthelteratregular
maintenanceintervalsandcleaningtheAftertreatmentfuelinjectoronDieselOxidation
Catalyst(DOC)DPFsystems,isnotcoveredbytheemissionwarranty.WiththeThermal
RegenerationDPFsystem,cleaningtheignitionelectrodesandfuelinjectionnozzleatthe
regularmaintenanceintervalsisconsiderednormalmaintenanceandnotcoveredbythe
emissionwarranty.
FederalEmissionRequirements
ThissectioncoverstherequirementoftheUnitedStatesCleanAirActwhichstates:“The
manufacturershallfurnishwitheachnewmotorvehicleormotorvehicleenginesuchwritten
instructionsforthemaintenanceanduseofthevehicleorenginebytheultimatepurchaser
asmaybereasonableandnecessarytoassuretheproperfunctioningofemissioncontrol
devicesandsystems.”Thissectionalsocoverstherequirementsoftheemissionsregulations
promulgatedundertheMotorVehicleSafetyActinCanada.
TAMPERINGWITHGASEOUSEMISSIONCONTROLSYSTEMSPROHIBITED
