TheenginebrakeisoperatedbytheEngineBrakebuttonsonthesteeringwheel.Itworks
togetherwiththeexhaustbraketoprovidetwolevelsofbrakingpower.Therearethree
EngineBrakebuttonsonthesteeringwheel:OFF,(1)LOWand(2)HIGH.Whenthe
EngineBrakebutton(1)LOWisdepressed,onlytheexhaustbrakeisengaged.Whenthe
EngineBrakebutton(2)HIGHisdepressed,boththeexhaustbrakeandthecompression
brakeareactivated.Thefollowingconditionsmustbemet:
•EngineBrakebutton(1)LOWor(2)HIGHdepressed
•EngineBrake/TransmissionRetarderselectorswitchissettoEngineBrakeposition
(selectorswitchcanbefoundonthedashboardonlyifthevehicleisequippedwith
bothsystems)
•Vehiclespeedover12km/h(7.5mph)
•Enginetemperatureover43°C(110°F)
•Acceleratorpedalisreleased
•Enginespeedexceeds1150rpm
