Function Description:

The Vornado Alchemy is a luxury ultrasonic humidifier designed to humidify and circulate air in indoor living spaces. It shatters water into a fine visible mist to increase humidity. The device also features candle-like ambient lighting that can be activated independently of the humidification function. It is intended for residential use in the United States and Canada.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Water Tank Capacity:
    • Lucerna 1: 0.5 gallon
    • Lucerna 2: 1.0 gallon
    • Lucerna 3: 1.5 gallons
  • Power: Operates with a detachable power supply and cord.
  • Humidity Control: Offers LOW and HIGH settings for humidification, as well as an OFF setting.
  • Illumination: Provides brightness levels of 100%, 50%, 25%, and OFF.
  • FCC Compliance: This is a Class B digital device, complying with CFR 47 Part 18 FCC Rules and Canadian ICES-001.
  • Warranty: Comes with a five (5) year satisfaction guarantee from Vornado Air LLC, covering defects in material or workmanship.

Usage Features:

  • Getting Started:
    • Before first use, check for visible damage. If damage is found, contact Vornado Air, LLC.
    • Perform a leak check by placing the humidifier on a water-resistant surface, filling the water tank, and pouring 1/2 cup (4 fluid ounces) of water into the base. If leaks are detected, contact Consumer Service for a replacement.
  • Filling Water Tank:
    • Unplug the humidifier and place it on a level surface.
    • Remove the Water Tank from the base by grasping the integrated handle and pulling upwards.
    • Turn the Water Tank upside down and remove the Cap by turning it counterclockwise.
    • Fill the Water Tank with cool tap water. Do not fill from the Mist Outlet.
    • If using hard water or water with excessive minerals, distilled water is recommended to reduce white dust and mineral buildup.
    • Replace the Cap by turning clockwise until tightened.
    • Turn the Water Tank right-side up to empty any spilled water from the underside chambers.
    • Lower the Water Tank into the Base, ensuring it is securely positioned. The water outlet valve inside the Cap will open, releasing water into the Base.
    • Warning: Do not use mineral cartridges or any additives (aroma fragrances, water conditioners) as these can cause cracks in the plastic and affect performance, voiding the warranty.
    • Warning: Choking Hazard. Keep small parts like the Water Tank Cap away from children and pets.
    • Warning: Take care not to pinch fingers or hands when replacing the water tank.
  • Controls: Located at the base of the unit.
    • Illumination: Press to activate ambient lighting. Cycle through 100%, 50%, 25%, and OFF brightness levels. Illumination can operate without humidification.
    • Power: Press to turn the unit ON or OFF.
    • Humidification: Press to control the humidity level. Cycle through LOW, HIGH, and OFF.
      • LOW: For quiet, nighttime use or smaller rooms.
      • HIGH: For fast humidification of larger rooms.
  • How to Use:
    • Position the humidifier so it does not blow directly on objects or plants, and ensure the Mist Outlet is not obstructed.
    • Plug the power cord into the unit's power jack in the Base, then into a standard wall outlet.
    • Remove any label from the top of the Mist Outlet before turning the humidifier on.
    • Press POWER to turn the humidifier on.
    • On first use or when unplugged, settings default to LOW humidity and 100% Illumination.
    • Humidity and Illumination settings are saved after power off and will return when powering back on.
    • Note: Lower humidification settings or turn off the humidifier if moisture forms on walls or windows.
  • Low Water Indicator & Auto Shutoff:
    • The humidifier automatically powers off when a low water level is detected.
    • If the Power Control is pressed when water is low, the light will pulsate 3 times to indicate the tank needs refilled.
    • Refill the tank and power the humidifier back on to resume operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning is essential for air quality and performance. Frequency depends on use, water hardness, and environmental factors. Thorough cleaning is recommended several times throughout the season, or if water has been in the Base for 8 hours or more, or if algae/mineral deposits form.
    • Turn the humidifier OFF and unplug it.
    • Remove the Water Tank by lifting it straight up and empty the Base.
    • Clean the Base and Water Tank with cool water and a mild detergent. Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, ammonias, or other chemicals.
    • To disinfect the base, mix 1 teaspoon of chlorine bleach and 1 gallon of water. Fill the base with the solution, wet all surfaces, let stand for 20 minutes, then empty.
    • Rinse with water until detergent or bleach is gone. Wipe the exterior of the Base and Water Tank with a soft, damp cloth if needed.
    • Dry, then reassemble the humidifier.
    • Warning: Do not submerge the unit in water.
    • Note: The product is not dishwasher safe.
    • Important Safety Instruction: Protect against mold, mildew, and other microorganisms by emptying the water tank immediately after each use. If water is left for longer than 8 hours, thoroughly clean and disinfect the unit.
  • Storage:
    • CLEANING is recommended before storage.
    • Unplug the power cord and bundle it loosely.
    • Let the humidifier dry completely before storing. Do not store with water inside the Water Tank or Base.
    • Cover the unit or place it back in its retail carton to prevent dust accumulation.
    • Store the humidifier in a cool and dry location.

Troubleshooting:

  • Unit fails to power on:
    • Check if the unit is plugged in securely.
    • Check household circuit breaker/ground fault circuit interrupter or fuse.
    • If the unit is damaged, cease usage and contact Consumer Service.
