1 AREA OF USE
This equipment is designed to heat standing or circulating fluids (liquids or gases), inside or out-
side in a non-potentially explosive environment (sheltered from the sun, at an ambient temperature
of 5°C to 40°C, and with a maximum relative humidity of 90% without run-off).
Its detailed technical data and limits of use are stated in the contractual documentation, and its
number appears on the nameplate, order acknowledgement and delivery note (reference, type,
specification or drawing).
2 DESCRIPTION
These immersion heaters comprise:
-
heating elements (a maximum of six), assembled by brazing or soldering to an attach-
ment interface via a screw plug (see below) that can directly receive an electrical box;
-
a mounting plug M45x200, M77x200, 1" – 1"1/4 – 1"1/2 – 2" – 2"1/2 Gas BSPP;
-
an electrical box, offset or not, with an internal and/or external ground terminal (for
equipotential bonding), one or more cable glands and/or a connection lead.
This box may contain:
•
a thermocouple for measuring temperature (generally type K) attached to the ac-
tive part of a heating element (recommended for heating gas or monitoring the surface
temperature);
•
an adjustable thermostat control in a thermowell;
•
a fixed or adjustable temperature limiter which is manually reset by means of a
push button;
•
a Pt100 sensor in a well, measuring the temperature of the fluid or the active part
of a heating element.
3 PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Note: Any electrical or mechanical work on the immersion heater must be undertaken by a quali-
fied engineer approved to carry out electrical and hydraulic procedures in accordance with the local
and national regulations in force.
Before any procedure is carried out on the equipment, ensure it is depressurised and switched off.
Verify that the immersion heater has the appropriate technical specifications, and that the dimen-
sions of the electrical installations it is connected to allow the equipment to be used at full power
without danger.
Electrical protection devices must be fitted in accordance with the regulations in force and best in-
dustry practice.
It is forbidden to open the box when the heater is connected to the power and switched on.
It is essential that the cable gland seal is compatible with the cable used. Standard linings are in-
tended for cables with a cylindrical outer sheath. If necessary, obtain a seal with the correct diame-
ter or technology for the cable used.
Only apply electrical voltage to the equipment after correctly closing the cover.
For use with liquid, install the immersion heater in such a way that ensures its heating element is
constantly immersed. If it is not, there is a risk of overheating, which could destroy the appliance.
