Connect the electricity supply and the safety device as shown in the diagram supplied (see
contractual documentation). This diagram is pasted inside the box, in its absence, please contact
the after-sales service via the contact form on our website.
Connect at least one of the earth terminals to the installation earth.
Ensure the connections are adequately tightened (2.5 N.m for M4 terminals, 3 N.m for M5
terminals, and 3.5 N.m for M6 terminals).
Choose a power cable and compensation conductors that are compatible with and approved
for the temperature of the connection box and cable gland.
For immersion heaters delivered unwired:
Refer to the various cabling diagrams available. Make sure the unit voltage of the rods is
taken into account.
To avoid all risk of error, check the position of the circuits (crosswise, in a circle or parallel)
before setting up the coupling according to the diagrams included.
For immersion heaters, we can optionally provide specially designed connection links (please
see our catalogue).
For immersion heaters delivered pre-wired:
Connect the power cables to the screw terminal blocks intended for this purpose.
Set the safety thermostat (available as an option) to the desired temperature.
Connect the TC or Pt100 sensor (available as options) to the external monitoring device.
When connecting the safety mechanism please respect the connection cable type, which
varies according to whether there is a platinum sensor or a type J or K thermocouple.
For all configurations:
When selecting the connection cable, take into account that the temperature in the connec-
tion box can be approx. 20° to 50°C higher than that of the external environment.
Avoid placing the power supply against the connection wire from the safety device (low volt-
age) inside the same sheath.
The safety system must not under any circumstances be used as a temperature control sys-
tem. Any undue increase in temperature must irreversibly halt the electricity supply, and an inspec-
tion will be required before manual resetting can take place.
5 SWITCH-ON PROCEDURE
5.1 Reminder of preliminary precautions (cf. 3)
Natural convection heating of liquid
The immersion heater must not under any circumstances be switched on if the heating ele-
ment is not completely immersed (installing a level monitor is strongly recommended, and a gas
purger or manual bleed valve are often necessary).
Forced convection heating of liquid or gas
The immersion heater must never be made operational unless the calculated minimum flow
rate is ensured: as it is obligatory to install a flow regulator, and a gas purger is often indispensable
for liquids, check its flow rate setpoint (this must be equal to or higher than the contractual value
determined by the designer of the circulating fluid heater) and that it is operating correctly (it should
irreversibly cut off the electricity supply).
5.2 Switch-on
If the equipment has been switched off or stored for a long period, before restarting it check
all its parts are intact and in operational condition, including the electrical insulation and protective
devices.
Assembly of the heating element and first switch-on of the appliance must be carried out by
an engineer with responsibility for the equipment and its manufacture.
