4.2.2 Attenuation measurement
In attenuation measurements on fiber links or
optical components (e.g. connectors), the relative
power level is measured in dB at the far end of
the DUT. It is first necessary to make a reference
measurement with a test source (at the near
end). You can use the OLS-5 as your source.
An attenuation measurement breaks down into
two steps:
1. Reference power level measurement
2. Relative power level measurement
(attenuation)
