4.9 Use of HME-Filters
For hygienical reasons and for climatizing the
breathing air, the inspiratory branch of the patient
valve can be fitted with commercial 15/22 mm stan-
dard cone HME-filters (heat and moisture exchang-
er). This insignificantly increases the inspiratory as
well as the expiratory resistance. The extend of the
death space volume has to be considered particularly
with children. Observe the operating instructions of
the manufacturer and chapter “3. Safety instruc-
tions” on page 9.
