6 Function check
6.1 Intervals
6.2 Performing a function check
Requirement The pressure reducer is installed (see “4.1 Installing the pressure
reducer”, page 15).
1. Check the pressure reducer for mechanical damage.
2. If necessary: Replace pressure reducer.
3. If medical devices are connected to the pressure outlet: Switch
off the devices.
4. If possible: Set the inhalation flow to 0.
5. Check that the screwed unions and hose connections are
secure.
6. If necessary: tighten the screwed unions by hand.
7. Open the valve of the oxygen cylinder slowly.
8. Read off the cylinder pressure on the contents indicator of the
pressure reducer.
9. When cylinder pressure is < 50 bar: Change the oxygen
cylinder.
10. Close the valve on the oxygen cylinder.
11. Observe the needle of the contents indicator for
approx. 1 minute.
• If the needle remains steady: The system is free from leaks.
• If it drops steadily: The system has a leak.
