Pupil too small - The device requires at least 4mm pupils. If one or both pupils are
smaller than 4mm, the device will not take readings.
1. Adjust ambient lighting
Bright lights will cause the pupils to be too small. Sunglasses can help
in some cases, but not all.
Subject should not be facing ambient light source – keep light source
behind subject if possible
2. Patient can have small pupils
Have them close eyes, them open and take quick screening
Have subject wiggle toes (pupils get larger!)
3. Subject age can be a factor
Some people (especially older people) will not get pupils 4mm or
larger. They may have to have dilation drops given to them.
