What to do if my Wen sander does not turn on?
    • H
      Hannah LangJul 27, 2025
If your Wen sander isn't turning on, first ensure it's properly plugged into an electrical outlet. If it is, the power switch might be defective and need replacement. A motor or wiring problem could also be the cause, in which case you should have a qualified technician make the necessary repairs.

Why does the motor on my Wen 6500 Sander overheat?
    • T
      Todd SmithJul 30, 2025
If the motor of your Wen sander overheats, it could be due to overloading the motor by applying too much pressure on the object being sanded. Another cause could be using an extension cord that is too long or has an insufficient gauge. Try reducing the load on the motor or using an extension cord of the appropriate gauge and length, or plug the tool directly into the outlet.

Why does my Wen 6500 motor not start and trips the circuit breaker?
    • T
      Todd SmithAug 4, 2025
If the motor of your Wen sander won't start and the fuses or circuit breakers are tripping, inspect the cord or plug for damaged insulation and shorted wires. Also, inspect all connections on the motor for loose or shorted terminals and/or worn insulation. It's also possible that you have incorrect fuses or circuit breakers in the power line, so install correct fuses or circuit breakers or switch tool to an appropriately sized circuit.

How to prevent burns on the workpiece with my Wen 6500?
    • R
      Rebecca HarrisAug 8, 2025
Burns on a workpiece when using a Wen sander can occur if you're using a sanding grit that is too fine, applying too much pressure, holding the workpiece still for too long, or if the sanding disc/belt is loaded with debris. Try using a coarser-grit sanding accessory, reduce sanding pressure on the workpiece, avoid keeping the workpiece in one place for too long, and clean or replace the disc or belt.

What to do if my Wen 6500 leaves deep grooves in the wood?
    • J
      jameschenAug 12, 2025
Deep sanding grooves or scars in your workpiece when using a Wen sander can be caused by several factors. The sanding belt/disc grit might be too coarse for the desired finish, or you might be sanding across the grain. Applying too much sanding force or holding the workpiece still against the belt-disc for too long can also cause this issue. To resolve this, use a finer-grit sanding accessory, sand with the grain of the wood, reduce pressure on the workpiece while sanding, and keep the workpiece moving while sanding on the sanding accessory.

Why does the sanding surface of my Wen 6500 clog so fast?
    • C
      Christian FrostAug 17, 2025
If the sanding surface of your Wen sander clogs quickly, it may be due to applying too much pressure against the belt/disc or sanding softwood. Reduce pressure on the workpiece while sanding. Alternatively, use different stock/sanding accessories, or accept that this will happen and plan on cleaning or replacing belts/discs frequently.
  • R
    Ryan OrtizAug 21, 2025
Why do sanding grains easily rub off the belt or discs of my Wen 6500 Sander?
    • T
      Tyler WaltonAug 22, 2025
Sanding grains rubbing off the belt or discs of your Wen sander easily can be due to the sanding belt/disc being stored in an incorrect environment or if it has been damaged or folded. Store sanding accessories away from extremely hot/dry temperatures and store them flat—not bent or folded.
