  If the water from your Westinghouse Water Heater is either too hot or not hot enough, the thermostat setting may be too high or low; change the setting as required. A thermostat out of calibration can also cause this issue, so replace the thermostat. Inspect the thermostat access panel(s) and/or insulation and replace as needed. Finally, ensure that the retaining spring(s) or mounting screws hold the thermostat(s) tightly to the mounting plates.

  If your Westinghouse Water Heater is leaking, start by checking for loose connections between the inlet/outlet piping, relief valve, and/or hex nut union on the tank fittings and tighten them. If that's not the issue, inspect the seal ring washer and replace the seal rings as required. Also, examine the gasket around the heating element(s) and replace the gasket if necessary.

  If the T&P valve on your Westinghouse Water Heater is discharging, first try opening and closing the handle to reseat the valve. If the issue persists, thermal expansion in a closed water system may be the cause, in which case you should install a thermal expansion tank. If the valve is damaged or defective, replace the relief valve. Note: Do NOT plug the T&P valve under any circumstances.
