What to do if my Whale Orca 500 Water Pump runs but doesn't pump water?
If your Whale Water Pump runs but isn't pumping water, the hose might have a blockage or airlock. Clear any blockages from the hose, ensuring the outlet hose runs upward to the thru-hull connector without any dips. Alternatively, the impeller may be restricted. Remove the pump housing from the base, clear any debris from the chamber and impeller, and ensure the impeller is firmly attached to the shaft and is not cracked or broken.
Position pump in the lowest accessible part of the bilge. Do not mount directly onto hull.
Instructions for removing pump body and attaching it to the strainer base for specific Orca models.
Ensure hose rises continually upward to thru-hull connector with no dips. Secure all connections with clamps.
Ensure wire connections are at the highest level above water. Use marine grade connectors and 16 AWG tinned copper wire.
