Why is my Whirlpool Water Dispenser not producing soft water and the salt level not dropping?
    • Y
      ychenAug 16, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Dispenser isn't producing soft water and the salt level isn't dropping, it could be due to a salt bridge in the storage tank. Refer to the “Breaking a Salt Bridge” section to break it. Alternatively, the bypass valves might be in the bypass position; move them to the service position.

What to do if my Whirlpool WHES30 Water Dispenser has no soft water and the display is blank?
    • W
      William PatelAug 21, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Dispenser isn't providing soft water and the display is blank, check for a loss of power and correct it. Reset the electronic controls and then use the RECHARGE NOW feature. Also, check if a fuse is blown, a circuit breaker has popped, or a circuit is switched off. Replace the fuse, reset the circuit breaker, or switch the circuit on, and then use the RECHARGE NOW feature. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the electronic control board may be malfunctioning, in which case you should replace it.

How to remove iron in water from Whirlpool Water Dispenser?
    • C
      Charlene CantrellAug 28, 2025
If you notice iron in the water from your Whirlpool Water Dispenser, test the untreated water for hardness and iron, and program the water softener accordingly. If there is iron in the soft water, clean the resin bed with Resin Bed Cleaner, following the instructions on the package. Note that bacterial or organic bound iron cannot be treated by a water softener.

What does error code Err1, Err3 or Err4 mean on my Whirlpool Water Dispenser?
    • J
      johndavisSep 12, 2025
If you see error codes Err1, Err3, or Err4 on your Whirlpool Water Dispenser, there may be a fault in the wiring harness or connections to the position switch. Replace the wiring harness or connections to the position switch. It could also be a fault in the switch itself, so replace the switch. A fault in the valve causing high torque could also be the cause, so replace the rotor/seal. If the motor is inoperative, replace the motor.

Why is my Whirlpool WHES30 Water Dispenser water hard sometimes?
    • W
      William WilliamsNov 17, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Dispenser is dispensing hard water sometimes, it could be due to several reasons. Check if the time is set correctly and change it if necessary. You may also need to refer to the “Set Water Hardness” section to correctly set the water hardness. Another reason may be that the model code programmed might be incorrect, so refer to the “Program the Water Softener” section to set it correctly. Avoid using hot water while the softener is regenerating, as the water heater will fill with hard water. Test untreated water for hardness and iron, and program the water softener accordingly, referring to the “Set Water Hardness” section. Finally, check for leaking faucets or toilet valves, as excessive water usage can also cause this issue. Fix all leaks and always fully close fa...

What to do if Whirlpool Water Dispenser salt storage tank is full of water, water running to drain while unit is in the soft water cycle?
    • A
      Amy BakerNov 24, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Dispenser's salt storage tank is full of water and water is running to drain while the unit is in the soft water cycle, the nozzle and venturi assembly might be dirty, plugged, or damaged. Take it apart, clean it, and inspect it. An inner valve fault could also be causing a leak, so replace the seals and rotor. Ensure that the valve drain hose is free of kinks, sharp bends, or any water flow blockage. Also, check if the valve drain line and Salt Storage Tank overflow drain are connected together by a tee; if so, disconnect the tee and run separate drain lines. Low or high system water pressure can also be a factor; increase well pump output to a minimum of 20 psi if the pressure is low, and add a pressure reducing valve in the supply pipe to the softener if daytime ...
