Ring Tone
Volume
With the function 18, you can set the volume of the ring
tone. ree dierent levels of volume are available to you.
To turn o the ring tone entirely, select off. Your machine
will automatically receive incoming faxes without ringing.
If your machine is set to the manual reception mode, you
can neither hear nor receive incoming fax calls (see chapter
entitled Setting the Fax Reception Mode).
1 Press MENU/OK,

You have three levels of volume available to you
(low, medium, high) or off.
3 Conrm with OK. Pressing C will return you to the
previous menu step; pressing STOP will return you
to the root menu.
Resolution
With the

key, you can set the resolution for
fax reception or for fax transmission. e symbol of the
selected resolution appears in the display:
NORMAL—for documents without special features
h
/FINE—for documents with small print or drawings
f
/SFINE— for documents with many details
F
/PHOTO—for photographs

With function 16, you can select the default
resolution setting. Press MENU/OK,

and OK. Select resolution with

, then press OK. Select the desired resolution
and conrm with OK. Pressing C will return you
to the previous menu step; pressing STOP will
return you to the root menu.
Contrast
With function 65 you can adjust the default contrast set-
tings for fax reception and transmission.
1 Press MENU/OK,

3 Conrm with OK. Pressing C will return you to the
previous menu step; pressing STOP will return you
to the root menu.
Protected Fax Reception
You can secure your fax reception with a code. In that
case, incoming faxes are not printed out, but rather are
stored in the fax memory. Only after entering a PIN code
can you print out these fax transmissions. With function
27, you can input a PIN code, activate the secured fax
reception mode or print out stored fax transmissions.
Entering the PIN Code
1 Press MENU/OK,

and OK.
2 Select answer code with

and
conrm with OK. Enter a four-digit PIN code.
3 Conrm with OK. Pressing C will return you to the
previous menu step; pressing STOP will return you
to the root menu.
Activation/Deactivation
1 Press MENU/OK,

2 Select activation with

rm with OK.
3 Enter the four-digit PIN code and conrm by press-
ing OK. Select with or without with
[
or
]
.
4 Conrm with OK. Pressing C will return you to the
previous menu step; pressing STOP will return you
to the root menu.
Printing Out Fax Transmissions
1 Press MENU/OK,

and OK.
2 Select print with
[
or
]
and conrm with
OK. Enter the four-digit PIN code.
3 Conrm with OK. e stored fax transmissions are
printed out and deleted from the fax memory. Press-
ing C will return you to the previous menu step;
pressing STOP will return you to the root menu.
