z Before tilting the outboard motor, stop
the engine by following the procedure
on page 64. Never tilt the outboard mo-
tor while the engine is running. Severe
damage from overheating can result.
z Do not tilt up the engine by pushing the
tiller handle (if equipped) because this
could break the handle.

Procedure for tilting up (power trim
and tilt models)
1. Place the remote control lever / gear shift
lever in neutral.
2. Press the power trim and tilt switch “ ”
(up) until the outboard motor has tilted
up completely.
