Periodic maintenance
3. Use a flathead screw driver to pry out and remove
the spark arrester from the muffler.
4. Remove the carbon deposits on the muffler cap,
muffler screen and spark arrester using a wire
brush.
5. Check the muffler screen and spark arrester.
Replace them if damaged.
6. Install the spark arrester.
TIP
Align the spark arrester lump with the hole in the muf-
fler pipe.
7. Install the muffler screen to the muffler cap, then
install the muffler cap to the muffler.

When cleaning, use the wire brush lightly to avoid
damaging or scratching of the muffler screen and
spark arrester.
