Periodic maintenance
6. Install the new oil filter cartridge with an oil filter
wrench, and then tighten it to the specified torque
with a torque wrench.
7. Check the oil drain bolt, oil filler cap and O-ring.
Replace them if damaged.
8. Install a new gasket and the oil drain bolt and then
tighten the bolt.
9. Fill the specified amount of the recommended
engine oil from the oil filler hole.
10. Start the engine and let it idle for several minutes
while checking for oil leaks.
1. Torque wrench
Oil filter cartridge tightening torque:
14 N·m (1.4 kgf·m, 10 lb·ft)
Oil drain bolt tightening torque:
27 N·m (2.7 kgf·m, 20 lb·ft)

Be sure no foreign material enters the crankcase.
Recommended engine oil:
A YAMALUBE SAE 10W-30 Performance All
Purpose,
SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40
B SAE 5W-30
Recommended engine oil grade:
API Service SE type or higher
Engine oil quantity:
2.0 L (2.11 US qt, 1.76 Imp qt)
If oil is leaking, immediately turn the engine off and
consult a Yamaha dealer.
