Why Yamaha RX-497 fails to turn on?

If your Yamaha Stereo Receiver fails to turn on, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the power supply cord is firmly connected to the unit and the outlet. Also, make sure the impedance setting matches your speakers. If the protection circuitry has been activated due to a short circuit, check that the speaker wires are not touching each other and then turn the power back on. Verify that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch on the rear panel is set to either end with the power off. Finally, if the unit has been exposed to a strong electric shock, set it to standby mode, disconnect the power cord for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
