The protection circuit might have been activated due to a short circuit, so check that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch is set correctly and then turn the unit back on. Alternatively, the sleep timer may have activated; turn the power back on and play the source again. It's also possible that the sound is muted, so press the MUTE button to cancel mute and adjust the volume.

  If you're not getting any sound from the subwoofer connected to your Yamaha Receiver, check the “1E BASS” setting in the SET MENU. If it's set to MAIN while playing a Dolby Digital or DTS signal, change it to SWFR or BOTH. Conversely, if it's set to SWFR or MAIN when playing a 2-channel source, set it to BOTH.

  If there's no sound coming from the center speaker of your Yamaha Receiver, first check if the output level of the center speaker is set to minimum and raise it if necessary. Also, verify that “1A CENTER” on the SET MENU is not set to NON; select the appropriate mode for your center speaker. Finally, if one of the Hi-Fi DSP programs (1 to 4) is selected (except for 6ch Stereo), try selecting another DSP program.

  If there's no sound from the rear center speaker on your Yamaha Receiver, check if “1C REAR LR” or “1D REAR CT” on the SET MENU is set to NON. If so, select LRG or SML. Also, verify that the IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch on the rear panel is fully set to either the left or right position while the unit is in standby mode. If that doesn't work, the protection circuitry might be activated; ensure all speaker wire connections are secure and not touching anything other than their respective connections. If the unit was exposed to a strong electric shock, put it in standby mode, disconnect the power cord, plug it back in after 30 seconds, and then try again.

Also, if the BLUE BACK setting under “10 DISPLAY SET” on the SET MENU is set to OFF and there is no video signal input, set BLUE BACK to AUTO to ensure the OSD is always visible.
