PRODUCT OVERVIEW
2V Operation Manual

INDICATORS
Depending upon the application of the engine, it
may be equipped with a variety of control consoles,
indicators and/or gauges. See your specific
machine/equipment operation manual for details.
CONTROLS
Key Switch
OFF - When you turn the key to this position, the
engine shuts down. Electric current to the gauges
and indicators is shut off. You can insert and
remove the key in this position.
ON - This is the position the key will be in when the
engine is running. When the engine is not running,
use this position to energize the gauges, indicators,
electric fuel pump and auxiliary devices.
HEAT - Depending on the type of key switch
installed on your machine/equipment, heat position
will work one of two ways.
Note: Do not activate the glow plugs for longer
than 20 seconds. Longer activation may
damage the glow plugs.
Turn the key counterclockwise from the OFF
position and hold for 15 seconds or until
indicator light (if equipped) goes out. The
switch is spring loaded and will automatically
return to the OFF position.
Turn the key to the ON position. This will
automatically activate a glow plug timer. An
indicator light (if equipped) will go out when
properly heated.
START - Turn the key to this position to start the
engine. As soon as the engine starts, release the
key and it will automatically return to the ON
position. Some key switches may be equipped with
a feature that prevents you from turning the key to
the START position while the engine is running. You
cannot turn the key to the START position without
first returning the key to the OFF position.
Glow Plugs (Swirl Pre-Combustion)
A glow plug is located on each cylinder head. The
glow plugs warm the inside of the combustion
chambers. The glow plugs are activated by the key
switch. Do not activate the glow plugs for longer
than 20 seconds. Longer activation may damage
the glow plugs.
CAUTION
For maximum engine life, Yanmar
recommends that when shutting the
engine down, you allow the engine to
idle, without load, for five minutes. This
will allow the engine components that
operate at high temperatures, such as
the exhaust system, to cool slightly
before the engine itself is shut down.

CAUTION
NEVER hold the key in the START
position for longer than 15 seconds or
the starter motor will overheat.
