Overview

This document is an operator's manual for the YARD FORCE 21" Cordless Lawn Mower, model YF60VRX21-SP. It is a 3-in-1 self-propelled lawn mower designed for outdoor power equipment use.

Function Description:

The YF60VRX21-SP is a cordless lawn mower primarily designed for cutting lawn areas in private homes and hobby gardens. It offers three main functions:

  • Rear Bagging: Grass is cut and collected into the attached grass bag.
  • Mulching: Grass is cut into small pieces, which then degrade and fertilize the lawn. This function requires the mulching plug to be installed.
  • Side Discharge: Grass is cut and distributed to the side of the machine. This function requires the side discharge deflector to be installed.

The self-propelled feature allows the machine to move automatically, reducing effort for the operator. The mower is powered by a 60V Li-ion battery pack.

  • Battery Pack Type: YF60VRX4.0-BAT (compatible with YF60VRX2.5-BAT)
  • Charger Type: YF60VRX4A-CHG (compatible with YF60VRX2A-CHG)

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The manual provides detailed instructions for installing the handle (lower and upper), fitting cable clips, assembling the grass bag, installing the mulching plug, and installing the side discharge deflector. The handle height can be adjusted using corresponding holes on the brackets.
  • Cutting Height Adjustment: The cutting height is centrally adjusted via a knob with 7 positions, from 1.25" to 3.75". The operator pulls the handle outwards, moves it to the desired height, and returns it to secure the lever.
  • Battery Insertion and Removal: The battery pack is inserted into the receptacle by aligning grooves and depressing until locked. Removal involves opening the guard, depressing the releasing/locking button, and lifting the pack.
  • Safety Key: The mower is equipped with a safety key that disables the machine when removed, preventing accidental startup.
  • Starting the Mower: To switch ON, the operator must depress and hold the safety lock button while pulling the operator presence control bar towards the handle. The motor will start, and the blade will rotate. The safety lock button can then be released.
  • Stopping the Mower: To switch OFF, simply release the operator presence control bar. The blade will continue to rotate for several seconds after the tool is switched off.
  • Self-Propelled Function: After starting the mower, the self-propel switch lever can be engaged while holding the operator presence control bar, causing the machine to move automatically. Releasing the self-propel bail stops the movement.
  • Operation on Slopes: Caution is advised when operating on slopes. Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction. Avoid excessively steep slopes.
  • Overload Protection: The mower has overload protection. If the motor is overloaded, it will shut down. The operator should clean the discharge chute/housing and restart.
  • Battery Charging: The battery charger is for indoor use only. It is designed for standard household 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz power sources. The charger indicates charging status with LED lights (flashing green for charging, solid green for complete). Charging time is approximately 60 minutes for the 4.0 Ah battery.
  • Battery Temperature Protection: The battery pack cannot be charged if its temperature is below 41°F or above 113°F. It is recommended to charge the battery at normal room temperature (around 68°F) for optimal life and performance.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight. Frequently check the grass collector for wear. Allow the product to cool down before storing.
  • Blade Maintenance: The blade, blade bolt, and blade assembly should be visually inspected for wear or damage before each use. Worn or damaged components should be replaced in sets to preserve balance. When servicing blades, be aware that they can still move even when the power source is switched off. The manual provides instructions for removing and installing the blade, emphasizing the use of heavy gloves and correct torque for re-tightening. Blades should be re-sharpened or replaced at the end of the mowing season by a customer service center to prevent imbalance.
  • Cleaning: Remove accumulated dust and debris with a soft brush. Wipe down the enclosure with a damp cloth. Do not spray the unit with water.
  • Battery Maintenance: Protect the battery from moisture and water. Store within a temperature range of 31°F to 113°F, avoiding direct sunlight. Clean the battery occasionally with a soft, clean, dry brush. For long-term storage, charge and discharge the battery pack once every 6 months to prolong its life.
  • Charger Maintenance: Do not open the battery charger; it contains no customer-serviceable parts. Protect it from rain and moisture.
  • Storage and Transport: After cleaning and cooling, store the unit in a dry room. The handles can be folded down for compact storage by releasing quick-release levers and positioning the lower handle lock pin. Remove the safety key and battery packs before storage. Use original packaging for transport whenever possible.

Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes reading and understanding all safety instructions, including warnings about rotating blades, thrown objects, electric shock, and proper use on slopes. It highlights the importance of wearing safety glasses, ear protection, and gloves. It also warns against operating the mower in wet conditions, near children or animals, or when tired. The battery contains lead and lead compounds, requiring hand washing after handling.
