If the line is out of line, refill it with a new line. If the inner reel is bound up, replace it. For a dirty cutting head, clean the inner reel and outer spool. If the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind the line. If the line is twisted, disassemble and rewind it. Lastly, ensure enough line is exposed by pushing the Bump Knob and pulling out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line extends beyond the cutting attachment.
