What to do if the fault contact of a YASKAWA Controller braking unit instantaneously turned ON when the power was turned ON?
    • R
      Rachael ChapmanAug 15, 2025
If the fault contact of the YASKAWA Controller braking unit instantaneously turned ON when the power was turned ON, it is likely because neither a braking resistor nor a braking resistor unit is connected to the braking unit. Connect a braking resistor or braking resistor unit to the braking unit.

Why does my YASKAWA CDBR-2015B inverter trip at overvoltage?
    • R
      Richard HebertAug 18, 2025
If your YASKAWA DC Drives inverter trips at overvoltage (OV), this could be due to insufficient braking resistor unit capacity. In this case, examine the braking conditions again. It could also be caused by improper wiring, so check and repair the wiring. Another cause could be a fault in the braking unit, so replace the unit.

What to do if YASKAWA DC Drives braking unit trips by heat sink overheat?
    • B
      Barbara MeltonAug 22, 2025
If the braking resistor unit overload relay (or thermal protector) of your YASKAWA DC Drives trips due to heat sink overheat, this could be due to several reasons. It may be caused by an excessive start/stop switching frequency, so examine the operating conditions. The issue could also stem from excessive load inertia. Improper combination of braking unit and braking resistor unit can cause this problem, so reset it. High ambient temperature could be the reason, so reduce it. Finally, the braking unit itself might be faulty, so replace the unit.

Why does YASKAWA CDBR-2015B DC Drives braking resistor unit overload relay trip when not decelerating?
    • C
      Cassandra RileyAug 26, 2025
If the braking resistor unit overload relay (or thermal over-load protector) of your YASKAWA DC Drives trips when not decelerating, and you don't have a braking unit, the inverter's built-in main circuit discharging transistor may be short-circuited; replace the inverter. If you do have a braking unit, the braking unit's main circuit discharging transistor may be short-circuited; replace the unit. Another cause could be an improper braking unit power supply voltage selection connector setting. If the power supply voltage is greater than the power supply voltage selection position, set it again.

What to do if the fault contact of YASKAWA CDBR-2015B DC Drives braking unit instantaneously turned ON?
    • T
      tonichristensenAug 28, 2025
If the fault contact of a braking unit in your YASKAWA DC Drives instantaneously turned ON when the power was turned ON, it could be because neither a braking resistor nor a braking resistor unit is connected to the braking unit. Connect a braking resistor or braking resistor unit to the braking unit to resolve this issue.

Why YASKAWA CDBR-2015B braking resistor unit overload relay sometimes trips?
    • N
      nicole93Sep 1, 2025
If the braking resistor unit overload relay (or thermal protector) of your YASKAWA DC Drives sometimes trips, this may be due to insufficient braking resistor unit capacity. Examine the braking conditions again to address this issue.

Why does my YASKAWA Controller inverter trip at overvoltage (OV)?
    • J
      Jennifer HoffmanSep 4, 2025
The YASKAWA Controller inverter might be tripping due to overvoltage because of insufficient braking resistor unit capacity. In this case, examine the braking conditions again. It could also be caused by improper wiring, which requires checking and repair. Finally, a faulty braking unit can also cause this problem, suggesting the unit needs replacement.

What to do if the YASKAWA Controller braking resistor unit overload relay trips when not decelerating?
    • B
      Brian PrestonSep 7, 2025
If the braking resistor unit overload relay trips when the YASKAWA Controller is not decelerating, it could be due to several reasons. If you don't have a braking unit, the inverter's built-in main circuit discharging transistor might be short-circuited, requiring you to replace the inverter. If you do have a braking unit, the braking unit's main circuit discharging transistor might be short-circuited, so replace the unit. Another potential cause is an improper braking unit power supply voltage selection connector setting, where the power supply voltage is greater than the power supply voltage selection position; in that case, set it again.

Why does the YASKAWA Controller braking unit trip due to heat sink over-heat?
    • L
      Lori WilliamsSep 12, 2025
The YASKAWA Controller braking unit may trip due to heat sink overheating because of excessive start/stop switching frequency, so examine the operating conditions again. It could also be due to an improper combination of the braking unit and braking resistor unit, so reset. High ambient temperature of 104°F (40°C) may also cause overheating, so reduce it. Finally, a faulty braking unit can also cause this, suggesting that the unit needs replacement.
