Why is my pizza burning in the Zanussi ZPO1BPC Kitchen Appliances pizza oven?
    • A
      Anthony SchwartzAug 13, 2025
If your pizza is burning in the Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven, it may be because you are not rotating your pizza frequently enough or starting the rotation soon enough after placing it inside the oven. This pizza oven can cook at very high temperatures, so it’s important to keep an eye on your food while it cooks.

Why am I seeing smoke and soot in my Zanussi ZPO1BPC Kitchen Appliances pizza oven?
    • J
      James SantosAug 16, 2025
It's normal for your Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven to have a light layer of soot after use, as smoke is produced when wood starts to burn until it reaches optimum temperatures. If you continue to see dark smoke, your pellets may not be completely dry, or too many may have been added at once. Add pellets gradually and make sure they are burning cleanly before you start to cook. Remember to follow the steps for lighting and maintaining temperatures in this guide. While it is not necessary, you can wipe down the inside of your pizza oven with dry paper towels after it has cooled for a fresh start.

What to do if Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven is running too hot?
    • B
      Brittany ThompsonAug 20, 2025
If the pizza oven is running too hot, reduce your preheat time and add less fuel. If your bases are burning and the stone is too hot, rest a cast iron dish on it for 30 seconds or so to absorb some of the heat. This can happen if you have added too much fuel or preheated for too long.

    David Greene DDSAug 25, 2025
Why is the Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven not hot enough?
    • P
      paulahurleyAug 25, 2025
The pizza oven is designed to reach optimum temperatures in 18 minutes preheat time. If your Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven is not hot enough, you may not have allowed for the full preheat time. If there are low ambient temperatures, add an extra 10-15 minutes to this preheating time. Ensure that you are using dry wood pellets and that you are following the lighting instructions.

What to do if my pizza isn’t cooked through in Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven?
    • R
      Robert CarrAug 28, 2025
If your pizza isn’t cooked through in the Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven, it may be because the dough or toppings are too thick. These pizzas will cook best when the toppings are light. Follow the cooking instructions for pizza, and ensure that the dough is well spread out, and that the toppings are not overloaded.

Why can I see flames at the rear of my Zanussi ZPO1BPC pizza oven?
    • G
      Garrett GonzalesAug 31, 2025
Flames may escape from the rear of your Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven when the flow of convection is broken, for example, when the door is taken off. This is perfectly normal. Ensure that you have read through the safety instructions and that your pizza oven is positioned at least 3ft (1m) away from any buildings or structures. Never use your pizza oven in high winds.

    Michelle WhiteSep 4, 2025
Why does the pizza stone look dirty in my Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven?
    • D
      Denise GoodmanSep 4, 2025
The stone baking board in your Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven may change colour but this will not affect performance. Excess food can be left to burn off under the high temperatures inside of the oven. This can happen because of excess food which has not yet been burnt off.
  • A
    Angela ChenSep 8, 2025
Why my Zanussi ZPO1BPC pizza oven chimney has changed colour?
    • S
      slopezSep 8, 2025
Stainless steel may change colour after exposure to temperatures of 1000°F (537°C), and some parts of your Zanussi Kitchen Appliances pizza oven will reach this temperature and above. This will NOT affect the way that your pizza oven performs. Some imperfections may be removed using a stainless steel cleaner. Parts of your pizza oven have been exposed to very high temperatures.

Overview

The Zanussi ZPO1BPC Pizza Oven is a portable, wood-pellet-fired outdoor pizza oven designed for cooking pizzas and other foods like steak. It emphasizes safety, ease of assembly, and consistent cooking performance.

Function Description:

The Zanussi ZPO1BPC is a compact outdoor pizza oven that uses wood pellets as fuel to achieve high temperatures necessary for cooking pizzas quickly. It features a main oven body, a hopper for fuel, a chimney for smoke ventilation, and a pizza stone for even heat distribution. The design allows for efficient burning of pellets, providing a wood-fired cooking experience. The oven is designed for outdoor use only, with strict warnings against indoor use due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It is assembled from several components, including the main body, legs, ash tray, hopper assembly, pizza stone, oven door, chimney pipe, and fire box assembly.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: ZPO1BPC
  • Fuel Type: Wood pellets (softwood or hardwood)
  • Preheat Time: Approximately 18 minutes to reach optimum temperatures. An additional 10-15 minutes may be needed in low ambient temperatures.
  • Maximum Temperature: Can reach up to 350 degrees Celsius (662 degrees Fahrenheit) inside the oven.
  • Clearance Requirements: Minimum 2 meters overhead clearance and minimum 2 meters clearance from other surrounding items.
  • Assembly: Requires assembly of various parts, including unfolding legs, attaching the ash tray, installing the hopper assembly, inserting the pizza stone, assembling the oven door, and attaching the chimney pipe and fire box.
  • Dimensions (Packed): Not explicitly stated, but implied to be portable with a storage/carry bag.
  • Weight: Not explicitly stated.
  • Materials: Metal parts, pizza stone. Stainless steel parts may change color at high temperatures (1000°F / 537°C).

Usage Features:

  • Outdoor Use Only: Strictly for outdoor use in open spaces; prohibited in houses, tents, caravans, motor homes, or boats due to carbon monoxide risk.
  • Pellet Fuel System: Uses wood pellets for a wood-fired cooking experience with minimal fuss. Pellets should be stored in an airtight container to prevent moisture absorption.
  • Hopper Assembly: Allows for easy loading of wood pellets. The hopper shovel (C) is used to add wood chips.
  • Fire Box Assembly: Contains the pellet grid (E) where pellets are ignited. The fire box assembly handle (F) is used to insert and remove the fire box and ash tray.
  • Pizza Stone (J): Provides a hot, even cooking surface for pizzas.
  • Oven Door (K): Designed to be inserted at an angle and secured to maintain heat. It should remain closed during cooking unless adding or removing food.
  • Chimney Pipe (B) and Lid (M): Essential for smoke ventilation. The chimney lid can also be used to cover the chimney pipe during storage.
  • Temperature Control (Indirect): Primarily controlled by the amount and consistency of pellet fuel added to the hopper. Maintaining a consistent pellet level in the hopper ensures high temperatures.
  • Cooking Versatility: Capable of cooking pizzas (typically 9-inch) and steaks.
  • Pizza Cooking Process: Involves dusting the pizza peel with flour, stretching dough, building the pizza, launching it onto the pizza stone, baking for short intervals (e.g., 15 seconds), rotating the pizza 90 degrees, and repeating until cooked (approx. 30 seconds per side for a 360-degree bake).
  • Steak Cooking Process: Involves placing marinated steak on the pizza stone, cooking for short intervals (e.g., 20-25 seconds per side), rotating, and flipping until desired doneness is achieved (approx. 80-100 seconds total for medium to well-done).
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always wash hands before and after handling raw meat.
    • Keep raw meat separate from cooked meat and other foods.
    • Ensure grill surfaces and tools are clean before lighting.
    • Use separate utensils for cooked and uncooked foods.
    • Ensure meat is cooked thoroughly to prevent food poisoning.
    • Meat juices should be clear, with no pink/red traces.
    • Pre-cooking larger meat joints is recommended.
    • Do not use spirit or petrol for lighting/relighting; use firelighters complying with EN 1860-3.
    • Do not handle or move the product while alight.
    • Never leave a burning fire unattended.
    • Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
    • Do not cook before fuel has a coating of ash.
    • Always use heat-resistant gloves when handling the product or hot parts.
    • Keep a fine water sprayer, baking powder, or salt nearby for flare-ups.
    • To extinguish, stop adding fuel and let the fire die, or douse with water.
    • Do not store flammable materials or use aerosols near the oven.
    • Do not use coal.
    • Be aware of potential flame escape from the back, hopper lid, oven front, and chimney top.
    • Modifications are dangerous and void the warranty.

Maintenance Features:

  • Ash Removal: After burning, use the poker (I) to remove ash/dust from the ash tray (H) to ensure proper air venting.
  • Cool Down: Allow the pizza oven to cool completely before cleaning or removing ashes.
  • Pizza Peel Cleaning: Clean the pizza peel (P) by soaking and washing in warm soapy water.
  • Ash Disposal: Carefully remove and dispose of all ash after each use. Heat-resistant gloves should be worn as ash may still be warm.
  • Chimney Pipe Cleaning: Tap the chimney pipe slightly to dislodge any dust or ash.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe down the outside of the pizza oven with warm, soapy water and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaning products or harsh chemicals.
  • Combustion Chamber and Pizza Stone Cleaning: Run the pizza oven at top temperatures for 30 minutes to burn off excess food, then wipe down with kitchen paper.
  • Pizza Stone Care: The stone baking board is not dishwasher safe and should not be cleaned with dish-washing liquid. It may change color over time, which does not affect performance.
  • Storage: Once completely cool and clean, the oven can be stored and transported using the provided storage/carry bag (Q). This involves removing the chimney pipe and lid, placing them inside the oven body along with other accessories (hopper shovel, fire box handle, poker, pizza peel), securing the oven door, folding down the legs, and tightening the straps of the bag.
  • Protection: To prolong the life of the pizza oven, do not leave it unprotected outdoors; use a suitable pizza oven cover when not in use.
