Downloading Firmware
Zebra periodically issues updated firmware to enhance the usability of its printers. You may
download the latest HC100 firmware to the printer at any time. For the latest firmware version
and instructions for downloading it, go to http://www.zebra.com/firmware.
You may choose to place the printer in forced download mode before downloading firmware.
While in this mode, the printer does not accept wristband printing instructions or control panel
button presses.
To place the printer in forced download mode, complete these steps:
1. Turn the printer off (O).
2. Press and hold PAUSE/FEED while turning on the printer (I).
During the printer self test, the printer status indicator rapidly alternates between yellow
and orange for 3 seconds.
3. Release PAUSE/FEED during this light sequence to enter forced download mode.
The printer status indicator alternates between green and orange lights.
4. Download firmware to the printer using any available connection.
As firmware is downloading, a green light rotates on the printer status indicator.
During the firmware download process, the printer status indicator turns to a steady half-
orange and half-green as the printer writes to flash memory. Do NOT power cycle the
printer during this phase.
When the firmware download process is complete, the printer returns to normal operation.
