Terms and acronyms
Terms
The following terms relate to the ET 3170 terminal.
This Term Refers to:
Bezel The front rim of the terminal, containing the touch screen and 
the faceplate.
Boom mount An extended hollow arm on the end of which the  terminal can 
be suspended. Power and data cables are carried inside the 
arm.
Display area The part of the touch screen that overlays the video display. 
Touches in this area emulate the movements and actions of a 
mouse.
Hatch A cover over the connectors on the back of the terminal. You can 
choose the NEMA 4X sealed hatch or the post/boom mount 
hatch for use with the Boom Mount kit. Both types of hatches 
can be fitted with an extension that allows space for bulky 
connectors or fittings.

 (NFI)
A form of touch screen that uses a proprietary imaging 
technique to generate a precise profile of a touch from voltage 
changes in the electrostatic field local to the point of contact.
Touch screen The front surface of the terminal, comprising the Display Area 
and the TouchSurround.
TouchSurround The area on the front of the terminal, not including the Display 
Area. This area is touch-sensitive and can be used to access a 
“hidden” Setup switch.
