4. Cover the air outlet of the airow meter with your hand until an
audible warning is heard and the red indicator illuminates
5. Remove your hand. The alarm should now stop.
6. Hold the ow meter tube vertical at eye level.
7. Wait until the position of the ball becomes stable (1-6 min) and
then check that the bottom of the ball is above, or at the same
level as the marking on the ow meter tube. If the ball does not
reach the level, check chapter Fault Finding
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Switch on 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator by pressing the ON
button once (nominal airow), twice (airow plus). Pressing the
ON button a third time will make 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator
return to nominal airow.
One green indicator = nominal airow
(see technical specication)
Two green indicators = airow plus
(see technical specication)
To switch 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator off, press the OFF
button for at least 1 second.
If the red light illuminates together with an audible warning, this
indicates that the airow is too low (less than manufacturer’s
minimum design ow rate). If the low ow alarm is active for
more than two minutes, 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator will
automatically turn off.
3M Ado Powered Air Respirator has a three bar battery indicator
(see g E:1) showing remaining capacity. When the last bar starts
ashing and an audible warning is heard, less than 5% battery
capacity is remaining. The warning sound will noticeably change
after a while and 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator will turn off
automatically. See Fault nding chapter for details.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Clean the equipment with a mild detergent and water. If you
suspect that the inside of the breathing tube is dirty, it must be
changed.
To avoid damage to the equipment do not use solvents for
cleaning. Do not immerse in water or spray directly with liquids.
The Particle and Gas lters cannot be cleaned. Do not attempt to
remove contamination using for example compressed air as this
will damage the lters, the equipment will not give the expected
protection and the warranty will be invalidated.
The 3M™ Ado™ Spark Arrestor/Pre lter protects and/or
increases the lifetime of the 3M Ado Particle lter and should be
used at all times.
If a clean spark arrestor is not used there is an increased risk
of re in the particle lter.
MAINTENANCE
The particle lter must be changed if the battery operating time
becomes too short or 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator does not
give enough airow. The graph (see g I:1) shows the relation
between runtime in hours and the particle lter clogging. When the
red indicator is illuminated, you can expect a short battery runtime
and a particle lter replacement is recommended. Note! The start
point (indicator reading) is different when a gas-lter is added.
Replacement of:
Battery see g G:1. Replace and gently pull to conrm it is locked
in place.
Particle lter/Pre lter/spark arrestor see g H:1
Belt see g B:1
The particle lter indicator reects particle clogging only. The
service life of the optional organic vapour/acid gas cartridge,
when used, must be estimated independently in accordance with
a change out schedule. Failure to do so may result in sickness
or death.
Worn out components should be disposed of according to local
regulations
FAULT FINDING
Should a fault occur which causes a stop, reduction or a sudden
increase in airow within the headtop, leave the contaminated
workplace at once and check the following:

If the air density decreases (eg. at high altitudes), 3M Ado
Powered Air Respirator has to use more power to generate a
sufcient air ow which inuences the lter indicator reading.
