applications. The software on user or end system does not need to be
adapted, if IPSec is implemented in a firewall or router.

IPSec can be implemented in a firewall or router providing a security
tunnel between the two isolated networks. While the strongest security is
transparently provided for the traffic between the two networks, the inner
network traffic is not affected or delayed.
