Overview

This document is a user guide for an Acer LCD Monitor, providing essential information for safe and comfortable use, installation, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Acer LCD Monitor is designed for video and visual display of information from electronic devices. It supports various display modes and resolutions, including VGA, MAC, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, WXGA, WSXGA+, UXGA, and QHD, with refresh rates ranging from 56Hz to 75Hz. The monitor utilizes Display Data Channel (DDC) protocol, allowing for plug-and-play functionality by automatically informing the host system about its capabilities, such as supported resolutions and timing. It supports the DDC2B standard. The monitor can connect to a computer via HDMI or DisplayPort (DP) signal cables. It also features an audio input socket for connecting to a computer's line-out port, if it is an audio output model.

Usage Features

The monitor offers a range of features to enhance user experience and comfort:

  • Power Management: The monitor is shipped with power management enabled. It activates Sleep mode after 5 minutes of user inactivity and can be woken by moving the mouse or pressing any keyboard key. It enters "Power Saving" mode, indicated by an amber power LED, when receiving a control signal from the display controller. The recovery time from Active OFF state to ON state is approximately 3 seconds.
  • Screen Position Adjustment: The monitor tilt can be adjusted from 25 degrees up to 5 degrees down, allowing users to find an optimal viewing position.
  • Onscreen Display (OSD) Menu: The OSD menu provides comprehensive controls for adjusting monitor settings. It can be accessed by pressing the MENU key.
    • Hotkeys: The monitor features hotkeys for quick access to frequently used functions. Hotkey 1 (default: Standard mode) allows selection of scenario modes like sRGB, Reading, Darkroom, User, Standard, ECO, Graphics, and Movie. Hotkey 2 (default: Brightness) provides direct access to brightness control. Hotkey 3 is for Input Select.
    • Picture Settings: Users can adjust Brightness (0-100), Contrast (0-100), Black Boost (0-10), Blue Light (80%, 70%, 60%, or 50%), ACM (on/off for dynamic contrast adjustment), and Super Sharpness (on/off for enhancing image resolution). The Blue Light filter is designed to protect eyes by reducing blue light emission, with 50% being the optimal setting tested by TÜV Rheinland.
    • Color Settings: This menu allows adjustment of Gamma (default 2.2), Color Temperature (Cool, Normal, Warm, Bluelight, or User), Color Space (sRGB, EBU, DCI, SMPTE-C, and Standard), Grayscale Mode, 6-axis Hue, and 6-axis Saturate.
    • Audio Settings: Users can adjust Volume and Mute (on/off).
    • Performance Settings: This section includes Over Drive (Off, Normal, or Extreme), Adaptive Sync (on/off), and Refresh Rate Num (displays current refresh rate). Adaptive Sync allows a compatible graphics source to dynamically adjust the display refresh rate for smoother, stutter-free, and low-latency updates.
    • OSD Settings: This menu allows setting the OSD menu Language, OSD Timeout (delay before turning off the OSD menu), Transparency (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, or 80% for gaming mode), and OSD Lock (on/off). When OSD Lock is on, the "OSD Locked" message appears, and the LED light changes from blue to orange. To unlock, press the "Navi Key" in the middle for more than 3 seconds.
    • System Settings: This menu includes Input selection (HDMI1, HDMI2, DP), Auto Source (on/off for automatic signal source search), DP Format (DP1.1 or DP1.2), Wide Mode (Aspect or Full screen aspect ratio), PIP/PBP (Picture-in-Picture/Picture-by-Picture), Hot Key Assignment (for customizing hotkey functions), DDC/CI (on/off for software control of monitor settings), HDMI Black Level, Quick Start Mode (on/off for faster boot speed), and DPS (on/off).
    • Save Settings: Users can save up to five user-defined profiles for gaming mode, allowing the system to recall preferred settings.
  • Accessibility: The power outlet for the monitor should be easily accessible to allow for quick disconnection of power.
  • Safe Listening: To protect hearing, users are advised to gradually increase volume, avoid increasing it after ears have adjusted, limit high-volume listening, avoid turning up volume to block noise, and turn down volume if unable to hear others speak.

Maintenance Features

The user guide provides clear instructions for maintaining the monitor:

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the monitor before cleaning. Use a soft cloth to wipe the screen and the cabinet's front and sides.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting list is provided to help users self-diagnose common issues before seeking professional service. This includes remedies for "No picture visible" scenarios, such as adjusting brightness/contrast, checking power connections, and verifying video signal cable connection.
  • Product Servicing: Users are advised not to attempt servicing the product themselves to avoid dangerous voltage points or other risks. All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel, especially if the power cord is damaged, liquid has spilled into the product, the product has been exposed to rain/water, it has been dropped, the case is damaged, it exhibits a distinct change in performance, or it does not operate normally after following instructions.
  • Environmental Protection: Acer is committed to environmental protection and recycling. Information on IT equipment recycling and disposal instructions is provided, encouraging users to recycle electronic devices to minimize pollution and protect the environment.
