Overview

The ADJ VF Flurry is a snow machine designed to produce artificial snow effects for various applications. This device is engineered for reliable performance over time, provided that the guidelines outlined in its user manual are carefully followed. It is crucial for users to thoroughly read and understand the instructions before operating the unit, as they contain vital information regarding safety during usage and maintenance.

One of the key features of the VF Flurry is its integrated snow juice level sensor. This sensor plays a critical role in prolonging the life of the pump by automatically shutting it off when the snow juice level in the reservoir runs low. This prevents the pump from running dry, which is a common cause of pump failure and clogging in snow machines. Users are strongly advised to use only ADJ® Brand Snow Juice with this device to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage. Running the machine dry or using any liquid other than water-based snow juice, such as plain water, vinegar, or other solutions, will cause severe damage and void the manufacturer's warranty.

The unit also offers control over the size of the snow flakes produced. A switch located on the rear panel allows users to adjust the speed of the internal air pump. Setting the switch to the "max" position results in a lower airflow, which produces larger snow flakes. Conversely, setting it to the "minimum" position increases the airflow, leading to the production of smaller snow flakes. This feature provides flexibility in creating different snow effects to suit various atmospheric requirements.

Snow output volume is managed through the included remote control. After connecting the remote to the snow machine and plugging the machine into a power outlet, the liquid reservoir will illuminate red, indicating that the device is connected to power. The red LED inside the fluid tank will glow steadily when there is sufficient snow fluid. If the fluid level is low, this red LED will flash, signaling the need for a refill. The green LED on the remote will glow when the snow machine is actively in use. To emit snow, users can adjust the "OUTPUT VOLUME" rotary knob on the remote to their desired level. Turning the knob clockwise decreases the snow output, while turning it counter-clockwise increases it. Once the desired output level is set, pressing the ON/OFF button on the remote will activate the snow production for the desired duration. If the green LED is on but no snow is emitted after holding the button for 30 seconds, users should check the fluid tank and hose to ensure fluid is flowing correctly. It is important to disconnect the power cord before removing or replacing the remote control unit.

For initial setup, users should carefully unpack the unit, removing all packing material, especially around the nozzle/sock area. The snow machine should be placed on a flat, dry surface. An included bracket can be attached to the side of the machine using supplied hardware; this bracket is an optional accessory but is required for hanging or suspended installations. The fluid reservoir should be filled exclusively with ADJ® brand snow juice, and the feeder tube with its filter should be placed deep inside the reservoir before tightening the cap. After setting the air volume output and connecting the remote, the unit can be plugged in and the main power switched on from the rear panel.

In terms of maintenance and troubleshooting, if users experience low snow output, pump noise, or no snow output, they should immediately disconnect the device from power and discontinue use. Continuing to push the remote control's activation button in such a scenario may damage the device. Users should check the fluid level, the external fuse or breaker, and verify that the wall outlet is providing power. If these checks do not resolve the issue, the unit may require service, and customer support should be contacted before returning the unit to a dealer.

Proper storage is also essential for the longevity of the VF Flurry. The device should be stored in a cool area and covered to prevent dust buildup. For long periods of inactivity, it is highly recommended to run the device every 3-4 months. This practice helps prevent the operational life from being severely shortened due to prolonged disuse. As previously mentioned, only water-based snow juice should be used, and any other liquid will cause severe damage.

Safety precautions are paramount. The unit should only be returned to ADJ Products, LLC for service using its original packaging. To prevent electrical shock or fire, the unit must not be exposed to rain or moisture, and no water or other liquids should be spilled into or onto the device or its internal components. The cover should never be removed, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside, and attempting repairs will void the warranty. The power outlet must match the device's required voltage, and the unit should be disconnected from main power when not in use for extended periods. It should never be connected to a dimmer pack. Operation should be avoided if the unit or its power cord is damaged, frayed, or if the ground prong is removed or broken. Ventilation holes must never be blocked, and the unit should always be mounted in an area allowing at least 6 inches (15cm) clearance from walls. This unit is strictly for indoor use, and outdoor use voids all warranties. It must always be mounted securely, and the power cord should be routed away from foot traffic to prevent damage. Servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel if the power cord or plug is damaged, objects or liquid have entered the unit, it has been exposed to water, or if it exhibits abnormal operation.

The device must be grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock in case of a short circuit. It is equipped with a 3-blade grounding plug that must be plugged into a properly installed and grounded outlet in accordance with local codes. Improper installation of the grounding plug can lead to electric shock. The grounding wire is green (with or without yellow stripes). If the grounding instructions are unclear or if the product is not properly grounded, a qualified electrician should be consulted. The plug should not be modified, and if it doesn't fit the outlet, a proper outlet should be installed by an electrician. The product is designed for a nominal 120-V circuit and should only be connected to an outlet with the same configuration as the plug, without using an adapter.

When using extension cords, only a 3-wire cord with a 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle should be used. The extension cord must be undamaged and heavy enough to carry the product's current draw, as an undersized cord can lead to voltage drop, power loss, and overheating. The manual provides tables to guide users in selecting the correct gauge based on cord length and ampere rating, advising to use a heavier gauge (smaller gauge number) if in doubt.
