2.3 Function of the 2-position auto/manual switch
The granular Flow controller includes a 2-position toggle switch used to perform the following
functions:
Automatic: The automatic system mode uses the Guia or Platinum guidance system to control
the granular dispersal system based on the defined boundaries of the area and preset material
output rate. The speed of the impeller will adjust when the aircraft speed changes keeping the
applied rate the same as the target rate.
Manual: When in the manual mode the system is switched to manual allowing the operator to
use the potentiometer to control the speed of the granular system.
2.4 Function of the potentiometer (manual mode only)
When in Manual mode the potentiometer is used to control the speed of the granular impeller.
When the potentiometer is turned clockwise the left and right granular impellers will speed
up. When the potentiometer is turned counter clockwise the left and right granular
impellers will slow down. The actual applied rate can be viewed on the Guia or Platinum test
mode display when making these adjustments.
3. Installing the granular system components
3.1 Installing the left/right motors with encoders
1. Remove the top section of the Isolair Broadcaster 4500 series tanks
2. Clean out any debris and granules from the bottom section of the tank
3. Using the hole marking template provided from Isolair – insert into the bottom section of the
tank. If you don’t have the Isolair marking template, please refer to figure 1.0.1 below for the
hole locations.
4. Mark the areas to drill
5. Drill the Marked areas and sizes according to the figure 1.0.1 below. There are 4 holes for
mounting each granular housing and 4 holes for mounting each motor bracket.
