Overview

This document is an operation and maintenance manual for the Airmaster 24L Air Compressor, Model No: TIGER 8/260, Part No: 1499490.

Function Description:

The Airmaster TIGER 8/260 is a 24-liter air compressor designed for various applications, from DIY to industrial use, when paired with appropriate air tools. It compresses ambient air and stores it in a receiver tank, providing a source of compressed air for pneumatic tools, spray guns, and other air-driven equipment. The compressor is equipped with a pressure regulator to adjust the output pressure, gauges to monitor tank and output pressure, and a safety valve for pressure relief.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power supply: 230 V/ 50 Hz
  • Dimensions (L x W x H): 560 x 355 x 622 mm
  • Weight: 22.8 kg
  • Receiver capacity: 24L
  • Fuse rating: 13 amps
  • Max working pressure: 8 Bar/116 psi
  • Max flow rate: 7 cu.ft/min (cubic feet per minute)
  • Sound power level: 96 dB LwA
  • Operating temperature range: +5°C to +40°C
  • Noise Related Value (for conformity): 1.5 kW
  • Measured Sound Power Level (for conformity): 94 dB
  • Guaranteed Sound Power Level (for conformity): 96 dB

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The compressor requires minimal assembly, including attaching the wheels, support feet, and air filter. The oil breather cap also needs to be installed after removing a travel plug.
  • Pre-operation Checks: Before use, users must ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position, the compressor is on level ground, and the supply voltage matches the data label. The oil level should be checked daily, ensuring it is halfway up the sightglass. If low, SAE30 compressor oil should be added, filling only to the halfway point to prevent damage from overfilling.
  • Connecting Air Tools: Air tools are attached to the 1/4" BSP outlet valve via an air hose. Users are warned to read tool instructions and ensure compatibility with the compressor and hose specifications. The outlet valve handle must be turned to the "on" position for operation.
  • Starting the Compressor: The compressor is started by plugging it into the power supply and lifting the On/Off button. It will operate until the reservoir is fully pressurized and then stop, restarting automatically when the pressure decreases.
  • Safety Valve Check: To ensure correct operation, the knurled end of the safety valve should be unscrewed and pulled outwards. Air should be released, stopping when released. If it doesn't operate correctly, the compressor should not be used and must be repaired by a qualified service agent. Users are explicitly warned not to remove or adjust the safety valve.
  • Output Pressure Adjustment: The output pressure for the left-hand outlet valve is set using a pressure regulator. Turning it clockwise increases pressure, and counter-clockwise decreases it.
  • Gauges: The compressor features two gauges: one for reservoir pressure and another for the user-set outlet pressure.
  • Stopping the Compressor: To stop the compressor, the On/Off button is pushed down.
  • Removing Air Tools: Before removing or replacing a tool, the pressure regulator must be set to zero. The compressor should be stopped, the outlet valve handle turned to the closed position, and the air tool operated to depressurize the air hose before disconnection.
  • Turning Off Completely: After use, the compressor should be stopped, disconnected from the power supply, and one of the outlet valves slowly opened to depressurize the reservoir. A hissing sound indicates depressurization. The compressor should not be left unattended while pressurized.
  • Thermal Overload Device: The compressor includes a thermal overload device that cuts power if the motor overheats. If activated, the motor should cool for 5 minutes before pressing the reset button. Repeated activation requires professional inspection.
  • Mobility: The compressor is equipped with wheels and a handle for movement. Users are cautioned to get assistance when lifting and to avoid lifting by valves or hoses to prevent damage.

Maintenance Features:

  • Daily Checks:
    • Oil Level: Check the oil level daily, ensuring it is halfway up the sightglass. Top up with SAE30 compressor oil if necessary, but do not overfill.
    • Draining the Reservoir: After each day's use and before storage, the reservoir must be drained of condensate by slowly opening the drain valve.
  • Monthly Maintenance:
    • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be examined monthly, or more frequently in dusty conditions. To clean, remove the filter cover and sponge filter. Clean the sponge and cover with a soft brush, or with warm soapy water if needed. Rinse and dry completely before refitting. Replace the filter if damaged.
  • Six-Monthly Maintenance:
    • Non-Return Valve Check: Every six months, check the non-return valve for leaks if the tank pressure decreases for no apparent reason when the compressor is off. Ensure the tank is not under pressure, then examine and replace the gasket and valve if necessary.
  • Oil Change:
    • The oil should be changed periodically. This involves switching off the compressor, disconnecting it from the mains, releasing air pressure from hoses, and placing a collection vessel under the oil drain plug.
    • Unscrew the oil drain plug from the compressor pump and collect the old oil. Tilting the compressor slightly may help complete drainage.
    • Refit the oil drain plug once drained.
    • Dispose of the old oil responsibly.
  • Cleaning and Storage:
    • Keep the compressor free of dirt and dust by wiping with a clean cloth or blowing it down with low-pressure compressed air. Use a damp cloth and soft soap for cleaning; avoid aggressive cleaning agents or solvents.
    • Always disconnect hoses and air tools before cleaning or storage.
    • Store the compressor in a dry location, always upright.
