Adjusting the thread tension
If the thread breaks while sewing, the thread tension is too high. If small loops appear
while sewing, the thread tension is too low. In both cases the thread tension must be
adjusted. In doing so, the upper thread and bobbin thread tension must be propor-
tionate.
The tension must be also be adjusted for different fabrics. The required tension de-
pends on the strength and thickness of the fabric, and on how many layers of fabric
are to be sewn. For example, a higher upper thread tension is required for fine fabrics.
If the stitches are too loose, the upper thread tension is set too low.
Before you start sewing, we recommend that you carry out a test stitch on a scrap
piece of fabric to check that the thread tension is set correctly.

anti-clockwise to relax the tension (see Fig. 1).
− Turn the upper thread tensioner anti-clockwise to relax the tension.
The bobbin thread tension cannot be adjusted.

− Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Take particular care
with the needle.
