1. Raise the needle by turning the handwheel

(clockwise) away from you and lift
the presser foot lever

is approx. 1cm from the edge of the fabric. During sewing the fabric moves backwards,
away from you. Therefore it must be placed in front of the sewing machine (see Fig. 3).
