Usethedipstickmethodifanyofthefollowingsituationsexist:
•Iftransmissionuidtemperatureisbelowthetemperaturetocheckit
electronically,conductaCOLDCHECKtodeterminewhetherthereis
enoughuidtostartandmovethevehicle.
•IfthevehicledoesnothaveanAllison5thGenerationshiftselector
ortheOEMhasnotintegratedtheelectronicmessagesregardingoil
levelintotheirselector.
•IftheOLSorvehiclewiringisdefective,ortheOLSwasnotauto
detected,preventingelectronicaccesstouidlevel.
5.8.1FLUIDCHECKUSINGDIPSTICK.
Therearetwotemperaturebandsmarkedonthedipsticktoallowfor
transmissionuidexpansionwhenthetemperatureincreases.Thelower
band,referredtoasCOLDCHECK,isusedwhenthetransmissionuidis
belowoperatingtemperature.Theupperband,referredtoasHOTCHECK,
isusedwhenthetransmissionuidisatnormaloperatingtemperature.
