This document describes the amaran SM5c LED strip light, a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-connected RGB pixel light strip designed for creating colorful and creative atmospheres in video production and daily life.
Function Description
The amaran SM5c is a versatile LED strip light featuring smart-speaker compatibility, Sidus Link app control, and 100 lighting zones across 5 meters for smooth lighting effects. It can be extended up to 10 meters with an additional 5m extension strip (sold separately).

Usage Features
The SM5c offers multiple control options and installation flexibility:
Installation
- Surface Selection: Choose a dry, clean, and smooth surface for installation. Avoid surfaces like fabric, dusty walls, rough plastic, and frosted glass.
- Surface Preparation: Clean the mounting surface thoroughly using the included cleaning kit (alcohol prep pad and wiper).
- Adhesion Enhancement: If the ambient temperature is below 10°C/50°F, use a hair dryer to heat the surface before installation to ensure optimal adhesive effect.
- Mounting: Remove the dustproof paper tape from the double-sided tape on the back of the strip light and mount it to the chosen surface.
- Reinforcement: After installation, use the included double-sided tape to reinforce any corners or areas where the adhesive might not be strong enough.
- Control Box Placement: Fix the control box and wires to the desired position using double-sided tape.
Connecting the Light
- Control Box and Strip Light: Connect the strip light to the control box.
- Extension Strip (Optional): If using an extension, connect the initial 5m strip light to the controller first, then add the 5m extension strip. Ensure the triangle marks on the connectors are aligned on the same side. Note that connecting an extension will reduce the power output of each strip by half to match the power adapter's output.
- Power Adapter: Connect the control box to the power adapter.
- Power On: Plug the power adapter into an AC power socket.
Manual Control
The control box provides intuitive manual control:
- ON-OFF / Wi-Fi Reset Button: Short press to turn the strip light on/off. Press and hold for three seconds to reset the Wi-Fi connection; the indicator light will flash quickly upon successful reset.
- Music Mode/Bluetooth Reset Button: Short press to activate Music Sync or Music Mode. Press and hold for three seconds to reset the Bluetooth connection; the indicator light will flash quickly upon successful reset.
- CCT/HSI/FX Mode Switch Button: Press to toggle between CCT (Correlated Color Temperature), HSI (Hue, Saturation, Intensity), and FX (Effects) lighting modes.
- Knob (Rotate/Click):
- CCT Mode: Rotate to adjust brightness/color temperature. Click to toggle between brightness and color temperature adjustment.
- HSI Mode: Rotate to adjust brightness/hue. Click to toggle between brightness and hue adjustment.
- FX Mode: Rotate to adjust brightness/effects. Click to toggle between brightness and lighting effects adjustment.
Smart Control
- Sidus Link App: Download the "Sidus Link" app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. Turn on Bluetooth on your device. Perform a Bluetooth reset on the control box (press and hold the Music Mode/Bluetooth Reset button for 3s). Open the app, create a new scene (if needed), and add the light. Once connected, the strip light can be controlled via the app.
- Smart Speaker Control (Tuya Smart App):
- Wi-Fi Connection: Connect your phone/tablet to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Tuya Smart App: Download and register an account on the "Tuya Smart" app.
- Wi-Fi Reset: Press and hold the "Power On/WiFi Reset" button on the control box for 3 seconds to reset the Wi-Fi connection.
- Add Device: Open the "Tuya Smart" app and follow the instructions to add the SM5c strip light.
- Binding Tuya Smart Account with Smart Speaker Account:
- Amazon Alexa: In the Amazon Alexa app, tap "More" in the bottom right corner, select "Skills & Games," search for "Tuya Smart," and enable the skill. Then, select your country, enter your "Tuya Smart" account credentials, and complete the linking process.
- Google Assistant: In the "Google Home" app, tap the "+" button in the upper left corner, select "Set up device," then "Works with Google." Search for "Tuya Smart," open it, enter your "Tuya Smart" app account and password, and complete the linking process.
Maintenance Features
- Cleaning: Only use a dry microfiber cloth to clean the product.
- Storage: Let the lighting fixture cool completely before storing. Unplug the power cable from the lighting fixture before storing and store the cable in its assigned space.
- Troubleshooting/Repair: If the fixture has been dropped, damaged, or malfunctions, do not operate it until it has been examined by qualified service personnel. Contact cs@aputure.com for service or repair. Unauthorized disassembly voids the warranty.
- Accessory Use: Only use original Aputure or amaran cable accessories. Using unauthorized accessories may void the warranty.
- Safety Precautions:
- Avoid operating the strip light in its spool for extended periods to prevent overheating.
- Maintain a minimum bending diameter of 5cm; do not fold the strip light in half.
- The strip light is not waterproof; do not immerse it in liquid.
- For optimal Music Mode effects, place the audio source 30cm (1ft) from the control box.
- Avoid trimming the light strip(s) as it can cause delayed boot-up and incomplete Pixel FX (e.g., Snake, Timing, Pinball, Clock, Fuse).
