Air pressure too low Air pressure switch set wrong Readjust high pressure setting
Air line leak Inspect and tighten lose hoses
Air consumption exceeds Check air demand for items using
compressor capacity the air supply
Intake or exhaust valves Inspect and replace
damaged
Air pressure too high Pressure switch not operating Inspect and clean
Internal contamination Inspect and clean
Pressure switch not adjusted Readjust to lower pressure
High crankcase oil usage Oil level too high Check oil level and drain if needed
Oil leaks Inspect and repair gaskets or seals
Piston rings worn or broken Replace rings
Blowing oil from Blown head gasket Replace gasket
crankcase breather Piston rings worn or broken Replace rings
Oil level in crankcase too high Check oil level and drain
Hole in piston Replace piston
No lubricating oil pressure Air lock in oil pump Loosen oil gauge while compressor
is running. When oil begins to flow
from fitting, tighten oil gauge.
No oil in crankcase Check oil level and add
Pump suction blocked Remove oil intake plug and inspect
intake and screen. Clean blockage
