Overview

The American Standard Selectronic® DC Powered Proximity Exposed Toilet Flush Valve is designed for 1-1/2" top spud bowls, offering touchless operation for enhanced hygiene and water conservation. This flush valve is available in various GPF (Gallons Per Flush) options, including 1.1, 1.28, 1.6, 1.6/1.1, and 1.28/1.1, catering to different water efficiency requirements.

Function Description:

The Selectronic® flush valve utilizes proximity sensing technology to detect user presence and initiate a flush automatically. This hands-free operation helps reduce the spread of germs and ensures consistent flushing. A manual override button is also provided for user-initiated flushes when desired. The device is powered by a standard battery, ensuring operation even in the absence of external power.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Detection Zone: Adjustable from 400mm to 800mm (15-3/4" to 31-1/2"), with a factory setting of 400mm.
  • Critical Line (C-L) on Vacuum Breaker: Must typically be 6" (152mm) above the fixture.
  • Rough-in Dimensions:
    • Centerline of fixture spud to finished wall: Variable, typically 108mm-134mm (4-1/4" to 5-1/4").
    • Flush valve body height: 292mm (11-1/2") from the spud flange.
    • Supply (1" NPT) connection.
    • Detection zone angle: 15 degrees.
    • Maximum depth from finished wall to front of valve: 170mm (6-11/16").
  • ADA Compliance (AFWALL® Toilet Shown):
    • Grab bar height: 914mm (36").
    • Grab bar diameter: Ø51mm (Ø2").

  • Flexible Installation: The unit can be installed for both right and left-hand configurations by rotating the flush valve body.
  • Water Conservation: Available in multiple GPF options to meet various water efficiency standards.
  • Easy Retrofit: Designed to replace industry-standard manual and electronic valves, often without needing to replace the wall escutcheon, stop valve, cover tube, and vacuum breaker.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: Simple battery replacement process involving loosening a set screw, rotating the cover, disconnecting the sensor, and replacing the CR-P2 battery.
  • Stop Valve Adjustment: The stop valve can be adjusted to control water flow and ensure the stated flush volume is achieved without splashing. This involves removing the stop valve cover and turning the valve with a flat blade screwdriver.
  • Supply Line Flushing: Prior to operation, it's crucial to flush all water lines to remove dirt and debris that could cause continuous flushing.
  • Care Instructions: Clean the product with clear water and dry with a soft cotton flannel cloth. Avoid soaps, acid, polish, abrasives, harsh cleaners, or coarse cloths to protect the chrome or special finish.
  • Component Inspection: Mechanical and/or electrical components are subject to normal wear and should be checked and replaced regularly to maintain performance.
  • Protective Film: A protective film covers the sensor eye and should not be removed until installation is complete.
  • Warranty Caution: Only American Standard supplied transformers and cable sets should be used. Using non-AS supplied cables or modifying components will void the warranty.
  • Water Hammer Arrestors: Strongly recommended for commercial applications to prevent water hammer.
  • No Pipe Sealant: With the exception of the Stop Valve Inlet, pipe sealant or plumbing grease should not be used on any valve component or coupling.
