3.5 En gine op er a tion
3.5.1 Dis play el e ments
The start ing con sole is equipped with sev eral warn ing lights. If
one of the warn ing lights goes on while the en gine is run ning, turn
the en gine off im me di ately and do not start it again un til the mal -
func tion has been rem e died.
The tem per a ture warn ing light (1) mon i tors the en gine tem -
per a ture. It goes on when the en gine tem per a ture is high.
The oil pres sure warn ing light (2) mon i tors the en gine oil pres -
sure. It lights when the en gine is off and the ig ni tion is on («I»
po si tion) and must go out when the en gine is run ning.
The glow mon i tor (3) lights dur ing the pre heat ing pro cess. As
soon as the light goes out, the pre heat ing pro cess is over and
the en gine can be started.
The charge in di ca tor light (4) mon i tors gen er a tor func tion. It
lights when the en gine is off and the ig ni tion is on («I» po si tion)
and must go out when the en gine is run ning.
The en gine hour in di ca tor (5) can be used to call up var i ous in -
for ma tion:

Right = bat tery ca pac ity full
Left = Bat tery empty

3.5.2 Start ing the en gine
Set the RPM le ver (1) about 1/3 of the way to «MAX».
Press the emer gency OFF switch (2).
Turn the ig ni tion key (3) to «I» and
wait for warn ing lights (2) and (4) to go on.
When the en gine is cold, turn the ig ni tion key to «II» and hold
the key un til the pre heat ing dis play goes out.
Turn the ig ni tion key to «III».
