  1. Rinse the probe with distilled water and shake off excess water.
  2. Immerse the probe in the sample solution.
  3. Stir the probe for a few seconds and wait for the reading to stabilize before recording the measurement.
  4. After measurement, rinse the probe with distilled water, shake off excess water, and replace the protection cap.

Changing Temperature Unit:

When the meter is turned off, hold the "CAL" button until the meter reboots to switch the temperature unit between °C and °F.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and longevity of the SX610 pH Pen Tester.

Calibration Frequency:

  • Calibrate the pH pen at least once a month.
  • Ensure the pH standard buffer is fresh and clean for accurate results. The small bottle of pH buffer included in the kit is suitable for 5-10 calibrations.

Probe Cleaning:

  • Keeping the probe clean is critical for reliable tests.
  • If contaminated, clean the probe head in soap water using a soft brush.
  • Rinse the probe with distilled water.
  • Soak the probe in 3M KCL solution for at least 30 minutes.
  • Perform calibration before using the probe again.
  • If the contaminant is difficult to remove, use Apera's cleaning solution instead of soap water.

Storage:

  • Always leave a small amount of 3M KCL storage solution in the probe cap when storing the meter. This optimizes performance and maximizes the life of the pH probe.
  • NEVER store the probe in distilled, RO, or deionized water.

Probe Replacement:

  • The typical service life of the pH electrode is approximately 12-18 months.
  • If the "Err" icon appears on the screen, or if the accuracy or response speed no longer meets your requirements, replace the probe.
  • The replacement probe model number is SX615. A tutorial video on how to replace the pH probe is available on support.aperainst.com.

Battery Replacement:

  • Replace the CR2032 batteries when the battery icon appears on the screen.

General Notes:

  • The instrument will automatically turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
  • NEVER test samples over 60°C (140°F). Testing samples at room temperature will yield the most accurate results.

Warranty:

APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC provides a two-year warranty for the instrument, covering defects in material and workmanship. A six-month warranty applies specifically to the probe. The warranty period defines the time limit for free service and does not represent the service life of the tester or electrodes. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, transportation damage, improper use, failure to follow instructions, lack of preventive maintenance, unauthorized modifications or repairs, normal wear and tear, or other external causes beyond reasonable control.
