Ensure the steam hose has a constant downward slope towards the humidifier or to tees and traps in low spots. If you're using hard pipe for the dispersion system, make sure it's insulated.

Ensure the front cover is attached properly to engage the safety interlock switch, and press the On/Off button. Verify the L1, N/L2, and ground connections are correctly wired with the appropriate voltage present. Also, check the electrode and high water probe connections on top of the canister, and ensure the ribbon cable from the membrane switch is securely plugged into the control circuit board. Confirm that the black/white wire is attached to the terminal matching the input voltage. Check the HUMIDISTAT and FAN PACK terminal connections and make sure the breaker is appropriately sized for the amperage draw. Finally, verify the voltage across the L1 and N/L2 terminals.

  If your Aprilaire Humidifier is showing a yellow steam light, it may be operating below its rated capacity. This can occur with systems plumbed to low conductivity water or those operating on short cycles. Consider plumbing the humidifier to softened water, using the blower activation feature on the ADHC, or running the HVAC fan constantly. You can also operate the humidifier on 208/240 volts. To check the operating current, use a clamp-on ammeter on one of the electrode wires. As a last resort, dissolve one teaspoon of salt in one cup of hot water and add it to the fill cup in 1/4 cup increments until the unit operates correctly, but do not over salt.
