What to do if the pilot light won't stay on in my Archgard Gas Heater?
    • N
      nashdeniseAug 1, 2025
If the pilot light on your Archgard Gas Heater won't stay lit after ignition, several factors could be responsible. Make sure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for a sufficient amount of time. If you've recently shut off the pilot, wait 5 minutes before attempting to relight it to allow the valve to reset. Check that the pilot flame is large enough to reach and surround the thermocouple. An obstruction from debris or an incorrectly sized pilot orifice could also be the issue. Inspect the thermocouple connection to the valve for any looseness. The thermocouple itself may be defective if it generates less than 30 mV. Lastly, a defective gas valve could be the cause.

Why won't the main burner turn on in my Archgard Gas Heater when the pilot is lit?
    • N
      Nathan BennettAug 5, 2025
If the main burner on your Archgard Gas Heater doesn't ignite even with the pilot light lit, start by ensuring the control knob is turned to the 'ON' position. Allow sufficient time for the pilot to heat the thermopile, generating enough voltage to activate the valve. Verify that the thermostat is set high enough and that any remote switch or thermostat is also turned on. A weak pilot flame could be the culprit, so check its strength. Inspect all electrical connections to the valve for secure contact. The thermopile may be defective if it reads lower than 400-500 mV with the burner off or 200-250 mV with the burner on. Finally, a defective gas valve could be the reason.

Why does the main burner shut off when my Archgard Gas Heater gets warm?
    • C
      Carl WeberAug 10, 2025
If your Archgard Gas Heater's main burner shuts off once the appliance warms up, it could be due to several reasons. This might be normal operation if a wall thermostat is installed. However, check the pilot flames on the thermopile to ensure they are good. Also, verify the voltage from the thermopile is adequate. Inspect the venting system for proper function. Finally, check the wire connections for any looseness, as heat expansion could affect them.

What to do if the convection blower on my Archgard Gas Heater doesn't turn on?
    • D
      Donald StricklandAug 15, 2025
If the convection blower on your Archgard Gas Heater isn't turning on, several factors could be at play. The fan is thermostatically controlled and may take up to 15 minutes to warm up on high. Ensure the appliance is receiving 120VAC electrical supply. Check that the thermal snap disc is properly mounted and that all electrical connections are secure. The thermal snap disc, convection blower speed controller, or the convection blower itself may be defective.

Why are the flames on my Archgard Gas Heater sharp blue and lifting off the burner?
    • J
      Jonathan WeissAug 21, 2025
If your Archgard Gas Heater displays sharp blue flames that lift off the burner ends, it indicates too much primary air. Reduce the primary air by closing the primary air shutter.

Why won't the pilot light on my Archgard Gas Heater after multiple tries?
    • A
      Amy WilliamsOct 26, 2025
If the pilot light won't ignite on your Archgard Gas Heater after multiple attempts, it could be due to several reasons. First, air might be trapped in the gas line; try removing the glass door and repeatedly attempt to light the pilot to purge the air. Ensure that the gas supply is turned on and provides adequate pressure. Check for sparks between the spark electrode and the pilot head when pressing the sparker. Inspect for any breaks or poor connections from the sparker to the electrode, and check for sparks shorting or arcing elsewhere. The sparker or electrode themselves could be defective. Also, ensure no air is blowing on the match flame; hold the control knob at the ‘PILOT’ setting until the air is purged. Finally, the pilot orifice might be blocked, or the gas valve may be defectiv...
