In addition to the information in the accompanying Warranty, Legal & Safety Notice, remember that your ARCHOS is an electronic product that needs to be treated with care:
Do not subject it to shock or vibration.
Do not subject it to heat; keep it cool.
Keep it away from water and excessively humid areas.
Keep it away from high electromagnetic fields.
Do not open it up. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Opening it will void your warranty.
First Steps
Charging The Battery
Before using your ARCHOS for the first time, completely charge its battery.
Connect the supplied power charger/adapter/ USB power adapter.
Attention: Use ONLY the supplied ARCHOS charger/adapter/USB adapter on your device.
Do not expect your device to charge when connected to your computer.
The ARCHOS will turn on and start charging.
The battery icon will animate a blue “filling” action with a lightning bolt and the power/charge indicator light will remain solid.
When not plugged into a power adapter, the battery icon will display the amount of battery power available.

    • Pinch: Place two fingers on the screen and pinch them together to zoom out, or spread them apart to zoom in (in supported apps like Maps).
  • Main Touchscreen Buttons:
    • Home button: Returns to the main screen.
    • Recent Apps button: Navigates among recently opened apps and allows closing them by swiping.
    • Search and Voice search buttons: Initiates searches on the tablet or web by typing or speaking.
    • Back button: Returns to the previous screen.

    • The device will not charge when connected to a computer.
    • The battery icon and power/charge indicator light provide visual feedback on charging status.
  • Updating the Device:
    • Regularly check for firmware updates on the ARCHOS website (www.archos.com/firmware).
    • Firmware updates can be downloaded and copied to the ARCHOS via a computer.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Resetting your ARCHOS: In case of freezing, force shut down by holding the Power button for 10 seconds. This will not erase data.
    • Touchscreen problems: If the touchscreen is not responding correctly, recalibrate it through the Settings app or by performing a System Recovery.
    • System Recovery: If the device does not respond or start properly, a system recovery can be performed. This involves turning off the device, holding the volume + button while powering on, and navigating through recovery mode options. Options include updating firmware, repairing the system, forcing touchscreen calibration, checking the disk, starting USB MSC, and formatting the system (which erases all data).
    • WiFi Connection Problems:
      • Ensure proximity to the WiFi hotspot.
      • Update device firmware.
      • Reset and redefine connection parameters.
      • Check the WiFi router/modem for pairing buttons or MAC filtering.
      • Carefully enter passwords, using the "Show password" option to avoid mistakes.
      • Temporarily disable the encryption system of the WiFi router/modem to diagnose issues.
      • Contact your WiFi connection provider for assistance.
  • Online Registration: Register your device on www.archos.com/register to access technical support.
