Let the patient feel the
water.
Adjust temperature if
needed.
Lower the bathtub to its lowest
height. Raise the lift so there
is space between patient’s
genitals and the bathtub rim.
Help the patient to move their legs over
the bathtub rim while rotating the lift into
position.
Lower the lift to a comfortable height for the
caregiver. Raise the bathtub.
Make sure no body parts get pinched.

If the patient desires and is capable:
1. Take off the safety belt from the backrest.
2. Lean the patient forward.
3. Fold back the backrest.
4. Lean the patient back against the bathtub.
5. Fold back the hand rest away from the patient.
