TM604 Telephony Modem
User’s Guide
Get ready to experience the Internet’s express lane! Whether you’re checking out
streaming media, downloading new software, checking your email, or talking with
friends on the phone, the Touchstone TM604 Telephony Modem brings it all to you
faster and more reliably. All while providing toll quality Voice over IP telephone serv-
ice. Some models even provide a Lithium-Ion battery backup to provide continued
telephone service during power outages.
The Touchstone Telephony Modem provides an Ethernet connection for use with
either a single computer or home/office Local Area Network (LAN). In addition, the
Touchstone Telephony Modem provides up to four separate lines of telephone
service.
Installation is simple and your cable company will provide assistance to you for any

      There could be several reasons why you aren't connecting to the internet. First, establishing a connection can take up to 30 minutes, especially during peak hours. Ensure your Arris Telephony Modem remains plugged into AC power and connected to the cable system. Check that the Power and Online lights are on. Also, verify your cable connections are finger-tight and that the coax cable isn't pinched or sharply bent. If splitters are present, remove them and connect the modem directly to the outlet.

      If you're having trouble with your Ethernet connection, and you are using a hub, first check if the hub is turned on. Ensure you're using the correct Ethernet cable: the supplied cable for direct connection to a computer, or a cross-over cable for a hub or router. You can also try pressing the Reset button on the back of the Arris Telephony Modem.

      If you don't have a dial tone, first ensure that telephone service has been purchased and configured on your Arris Telephony Modem. Check that the Power and Online LEDs are lit. If the Telephone LED is not lit, phone service hasn't been provisioned; contact your service provider. If the Telephone LED is blinking, check for phones off the hook in the house. If the Telephone LED is lit, ensure the phone is directly plugged into the modem; try a different phone and cable. If the issue persists, contact your service provider; if dial tone returns after unplugging the RJ-11 connector, the problem lies within the house wiring.

      If the Arris Telephony modem is plugged in but the Power light is off, check all power connections to ensure the power cord is firmly plugged in at both ends. If the modem is connected to a power strip, make sure the strip is switched on. Avoid using an outlet controlled by a wall switch, if possible. Test the outlet by plugging in another device. Finally, check the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
