This
section
describes
the
various
system
uses
and
the
modem
and
printer
interfaces.
Both
interfaces
are
25-pin
female
connectors
that
are
Electronic
Industry
Association
(EIA)
RS-232-C.
Systea
Use
The
terminal
is
designed
for
use
in
a
variety
of
full
duplex
systems:
Switched
network
Dedicated
private
line
MUltiplexed
front
end
Direct
connect
Switched
Network
Systeas
For
switched
network
systems
the
terminal
is
coupled
to
a
modem
by
an
RS-232-C
modem
cable.
The
modem
is
connected
to
the
central
telephone
office
through
dial-up
lines.
This
type
of
arrangement
can
be
used
asynchronously
with
full
duplex
modems.
This
type
of
system
almost
always
assumes
the
terminal
is
a
great
distance
from
the
remote
sender
(host).

The
system
normally
allows
the
host
to
echoplex
data
back
to
the
terminal.
Parity
checking
capabilities
and
substitute
character
on
received
error
routine
are
common
requirements.
